Modified Civic Encounter. . .
okay civic si owner / troll. you said it yourself, 1) reliability, 2) excellent gas mileage, 3) um ok... 4) excellent resale value. do those elements describe a car made to go fast? be reasonable, any car producing large amounts of power is no longer reliable, nor does it have good gas mileage, and you can say goodbye to good resale. so again, let us review. is the civic a fast car? no, it is not. it is an economic vehicle made to be mass produced and driven by those on a budget or as a beater. can it be made fast? yes, with the proper amounts of money. now, the post i made was directed with the mindset of wanting a fast car. in all honesty, the transmission, the drivetrain, the engine itself is not exactly the best platform for a race car. c'mon bro, how fast are you going to go in your honda civic ex that's 1.6 liters with a sohc powerplant. ok, let's talk about the si, that's a little bit better. but generally, fast civics tend to take engines from other hondas (b18, h22, or b20 block with b16 or b18 head, the list goes on to the endless hybrids). if i had an unlimited amount of funds to modify a car, why would i buy a civic? i'd like to see even one person on s2ki to pick a civic Si over say a GTR34, or a MKIV.
oh GTI 20v, i never apologized for calling you ignorant. i apologize now.
i was going to defend civics, but after that civic si post, i changed my mind.

I've had my ass handed to me by a couple of Civics. For the most part, there's a lot of Civics out there that are not fast. But there's some engine swapped mofo's that will tear up a Stock S2K. A friend of mine has an SI with a turbo. He's running 13 flat.
yeah without a doubt, a civic CAN be fast. and there ARE fast civics out there. but you know, if you were bankin, you wouldn't want to buy a civic for your super fast car. my good friend just ran a 9 last week in his supra which has full interior, daily driven, 18" wheels. it's by no means light or stripped out. my personal choice of fast cars, money for thought put aside, porsche GT2. *drool*

yeah, you really can't put down someone b/c they do what they do to their car. It is just those particular ones that go around like they are better than everyone else...whatever. Drive what you got, take pride in it and enjoy it. Leave the ego at the house. ok, i'm stupid
Ok i just want to clear some things up..
I know civics aren't great or anything and I wasn't trying to say that, and I would rather have a 1.8t, I didn't want to get into an argument about whose car was better (and I dont have an si, it a 2000 ex). The comment about me being a troll was ridiculous. It's just that I worked hard for my car, and right now in my life I can't afford a s2000 or a tl or anything like that (or even a 1.8t). It gets sickening having your car always being the butt of jokes, etc. Thats all I was saying. I hope everyone enjoys their car no matter what.

Tsk, tsk. Its a shame when people stereotype.
I own a Civic, its faster than my S2K. Cost a hell of a lot less, gets better gas mileage, cheaper insurance, more cargo capacity, etc. Its almost as much fun to drive as my S2K, and more fun than the couple of Supra Turbos I've driven.
Wait, let me check, yep, my testicles are still in place. A true auto enthusiast would take a late 80's early 90's Civic/CRX Si over many, many cars. Just like they'd take an early GTI over the current ones.
