Default my first encounter with a new model GT

I was on the freeway coming home, and this mustang gt the newer models pulls up next to me with a girl in his car and his top down, i had my top up and no one else with me. He revs on me, and I figured since his top was down i have the advantage, so he started off about a car length ahead, so as i shift into 4th from 80 mph, i stick right with him, i think i should of shifted to 3rd, but anyways as we are going through my fourth gear i am still right as his bumper, but gradually catching up, as soon as i shift into 5th and still going i ended up with about a car and half length on him, i started to slow down around 115mph or so, wasn't really paying attention. I promised myself not to race on the freeway, but no one was around and never raced a gt with the s2k before so i decided to give it a run, i was surprised by beating it by that much, i guess having the top down makes that big of a difference? then he follows me off the freeway, and on this strip of road i am still in first gear around 20 mph or so, he revs, but then he slows down and didn't want a rematch i guess.

Good run! That sounds about right. 2 1/2 car lengths in just 35mph (80-115mph) does sound much, but that's because his top was down. If it was up, you still would've won (assuming he was stock of course), but not by as much. A conv. GT is much heavier than a coupe also.

you'd have pulled quite a bit more had you dropped to 3rd.

hey.. i had a question.. i too.. had a race on the freeway with a new gt mustang.. i currently own an 04.. but.. something weird happened.. so we were racing.. we were both going at about.. 75 mph.. i drop from 6th.. to 5th.. to 4th.. and then to 3rd.. i go from 3rd.. we r racing.. i pull on him.. 5th.. going good.. at about 120.. he is behind me by about 2 cars.. and then i go into 6th.. and then at 130.. i stopped accelerating.. he eventually slowly catches up.. but i'm still ahead.. but i stay trapped at 130!!!

i have the pedal to the medal.. all the way down.. and it still wont go anyfaster.. i have spare RPM's.. but it wont go any faster.. i even redline'd 5th gear.. going 120.. and my 6th is weak!! =(

anyone know why the 04's do that? i know the 00-03's hit 150 EASILY! cause i use to own one.. and i would hit 150 wihtout a problem!

i need answers!! heheh.. if anyone can help me.. that would be great!

no dc5. S2000's will pull on any of the newer GT's, coupe or convertible or manual or automatic.

crazie, i wonder if there is a limiter on the new 04's? I know my S didn't have any trouble going up to 160mph.

And your 5th gear tops out at 120? Weird, considering the 00-03's top out 4th gear at 120.
