Default MY01 vs. 350 vs. CRX

First of all, I in no way support street racing, I think it's way too dangerous. That being said:

I'm coming home from the city tonight, on the Kennedy (coming out of Chicago), just passed the toll and a gorgeous blue 350Z with HUGE chrome wheels pulls up next to me going about 65. He tries to entice me to race, so I say "what the hell". The entire time I am able to pull on him and when I'm behind him, I was actually able to pass him. This guy clearly couldn't drive well, he had obvious miss shifts. This goes on until I get off at the Roselle exit. After I exit, I'm feeling pretty confident with myself and my car.

So I pull up to the light at Central. Up next to me pulls a CRX driven by a kid easily under 18. This car was hilarious. 14" chrome wheels, think Pep Boys chrome hub caps. Coffee can exhaust that sounds like a choking dog. Blue neon lights inside the car. And the paint, completely primer. I actually laughed out loud. This kid has the ba**s to rev his engine as though he wants to race. I think no way, but he really started to annoy me, so to shut him up, I decide, "what the hell" yet again.

I pull away very good and hit the 1-2 shift flawlessly. As soon as I do, I realize that this PIECE is a half car ahead of me. At the 2-3 shift he's a car and a half ahead. So I immediately get on the brakes.

He gets to the Algonquin light, on Roselle still, before I do. I limp to the red light very embarressed. This kid turns down B96 to actually laugh at me. This really gets me. I think, no way will you get me again.

I drill first gear with the most perfect jump ever. The 1-2 shift couldn't have been done faster by the best automatic. Again this ass is a quarter panel ahead of me. The 2-3 shift is crazy quick, and yet he's half a car ahead. Not until 70-75 do I begin to creep on him. But at this point I stand on the brakes to get it back down to the 45 mph speed limit. He didn't slow down a bit and flew down Roselle, well ahead of me.

Moral of the Story:
I'm now shopping for a 1000hp Skyline and gonna go hunting for this kid.
And, if you see this kid, don't end up like I did.

When you hear a exhaust that sounds like what you'd described plus probably a bit louder engine noise then it's the sound of a swap, gotta take all ricer serious cuz you just got bitten and laugh at. On the streets alot of ricers take their cars seriously, also you often wonder why these car that you know for sure is alot slower than yours messing with you to start with. I guess you win some and you lose some, point is never to laugh at peeps and their rides.

That 350z could be a automatic as well, I've seen automatic 350z running low 15 second 1\4 time at the track. Check out the pervious post about S2k vs 350z, it also has a video of the race to prove what the outcome would be. Then again like many had said, anything can happen on the street so good kill.

Very true... and these guys are getting younger and younger too. I never thought I'd see the day when kids that are 16ish are owning 12 second cars!

i agree completely. i had a similar encounter when i had my modded 00 Civic Si when i was 16. I raced an old guy in a C4 corvette and he was cocky at the beginning, then i beat him by 2 carlengths. he wasn't smiling anymore.

Watch those CRX's man. I have personally witnessed one walk us from a roll and we were in an NSX we would have gotten him on top end speed but from 70-120ish he was all over us. Serious boosted engine and probably a swap but still

yeah dont take those crx's too lightly, ugly or not...i've had a couple of close calls with swapped hb's and crx's and they can be made QUICK for cheap...i mean people these days are spending more money on the motor then the car is actually worth...

i actually got my a$$ handed to me by a completely stock/beat up looking sr20 swapped 240 on the highway...i knew i was in big trouble when he spun his tires doing 50mph and i heard the open wastegate sound...

moral of the story: DONT be fooled by sleepers
