ok well i just scanned everyone's replys and have not gotten a serious one...

if you go to court to plea guilty you will not go to jail especially if this is your first ever ticket.

here is what happened
you got caught for going 33 over anything over 25 is wreckless driving and you will get a wreckless driving fine...

my friend got caught there for doing 70 over speedlimitand it says come to court so he did then he got alotta points knocked off and got a "maximum" of 500 but his ticket was 43?

Not sure who you're referring to, but this feather-fluffing "legal buff" is actually a lawyer who is interested in helping out a fellow owner if I can--God knows I can't contribute any mechanical knowledge. And sometimes I wander into this forum even though I generally post elsewhere. Guess I missed the fine print about this being out of line so I will gladly refrain from intruding on your forum again.

safe.

The only thing out of line... was your overly emotional take on a statement which was highly generalized and for the sole purpose of encouraging this:

But... on a serious note, I will bear down and show nothing other than support and encouragement for those assisting us with their individual trades... because heaven forbid that one should misconstrue a relatively inconsequential post from ONE member... and allow himself to get so side-tracked.

I mean... ONE opinion of about 30k+ on this website has so much impact!

so again, in legal jargon: "I retract my original statement, in shy of your objection"

carry-on and help this fine fellow

oh, and did I ask; "what made you assume it was only directed at you... of all the people who actually posted on this thread?"

Just curious...

(because if I didn't know better, or took maybe one additional psych class... I would say that was a shameless plug to announce who you are and what you're capable of... which ironically- would be compared to "fluffing your feathers and puffin' your chest" ...but I'm just observant like that )

Others have said it and I think its true....it all depends on where you got the ticket...I got one for 50+ over (I didn't get arrested I think because I said I had just gotten the car and I'd never had a ticket....he checked....and as he turned, he said, well you're getting one today). This was an Ohio State Police Officer and the local town was a SMALL one (I was from out-of-state). I relate the above to indicate that at the time I was stopped, it was a serious situation (as a speeding ticket goes).

NOW, to your case via what I did....Call the clerk of the court and ask to postphone the court appearance (most have to allow at least one change). As you are closing the conversation, ask the clerk if there is a way you admit guilt and pay the ticket by sending in a confession and cashiers check.

Mine required that I acknowledge that because of my speed, I could (and would) lose my licence (in that State only) for 90-days. I think that is why they say you have to appear...because they want to have your informed consent if pleading guilty is going to result in a suspension. Don't forget to ask if they have a deferral program...just in case.

When I asked, she said sure, send the check and a letter. As a reminder, if you lose your licence in a state you don't drive daily, many require you to request your licence be restored...and of course, pay a fine..If you go there often, DON"T forget to do this...or else IF you get caught again, you;ll be driving on a suspended licence.

Bottom line, courts are still only people...call and talk....they cant arrest you for smoozing....

Good luck!

Madame... the Defendents counsel has summoned a plea bargain. The proposition has been found satisfactory and has been settled outside the court (via PM )

...we shall reconvene within this 30 day period to solidfy the contractual agreement to be then set forth.

So again... Joe 1- Lawyer 0!

(not bad racer, huh... if you ever need a blow hard to quaff some smoke at the judge for ya... what do you think? Am I your man!?? )
