Well, went to the dodge dealership today to check on my neon and see if its shown up yet (given up on calling, I sat on hold for almost 15 minutes) sure enough, its there, in the back. Apparently the premium audio system with GPS is a dealer installed option, so they still have to do that, it already had a stage one on it (they even put a stage one emblem on the back) and they upgraded the climate controls to digital. I ask if I could take it out and they said they would have to find the keys, after getting the keys and going back there it was apparent it was going to take a while. No fuses in the car, plastic still on everything, part of the front of the car (front air rake or something) was in the trunk with instructions saying it needed to be installed. I did get to get into it, it

Well, I finally picked up the car after debating with the dealership over waiting for an 04. I spent a couple days reading on the neon forum board (srtforums.com and neons.org) and a lot of them think the 04 will not be the same as the 03 in many areas that are important to me. So I picked up my silver neon to match my silver S, they look pretty cool next to each other in the garage, girl friend thinks I

S2000 is faster. Won't be surprised if the SRT takes the launch (unless you drop it at 5k-6k and tires stick).

215 hp using turbo vs 240 hp being NA at crank.

beats S2000 on torque like most american cars do.

weighs 100 lbs more also (the srt that is)

Its a good car for the price, if anyone thinks its unbeatable they're sorely mistaken. And the exact opposite, if they think its a crap car, its a good car for the price.

I'm curious as to the Turbo lag, whens the turbo kick in? To compare VTEC kicking in vs their turbo spooling.

Anyhoo, stock vs stock s2k wins. srt with upgraded engine vs stock might go to the srt (probably would) but thats a silly comparison.

The Viper really does kick a lot of ass. No one should kid themselves that any Honda car can dominate a Viper on a racetrack either. The skidpad and acceleration numbers alone should give a good idea of what a viper can do when properly driven on a track. GTS vipers were mopping up everything up a few years back.

As for the NEON. I had the unfortunate experience of watching my sister pull into my driveway with one a few weeks ago. She bought a yellow SRT-4. I drove the thing and I have to say it is quick. I was losing traction in 1st and 2nd gear while going straight and it accelerates like mad. Her boyfriend ran a 14.1 in it last week at the strip. I have no idea the trap speed. Anyway, when it breaks or explodes I will be sure to let everyone know (the car had 700 miles when they went to the drag strip eventhough I recommened they break it in a bit more).

When I turned the car I felt like it was going to roll over. So I don't think there is much to worry about in the cornering department, unless they get some suspension mods.

Now I just wish I still had my S2000 so I could see what this little NEON can do. Also, I should add that my sister's boyfriend seems to think this NEON SRT-4 is the fastest car on the road, ever. It is hillarious. He is constantly exagerating how much power it has. So I think most people here are justified in not liking the NEON crowd, they are a little over the top. It only takes a few bad apples to ruin it for everyone though, so don't assume every SRT-4 owner is a total loss.

if someone even thinks an srt is in the s's league, they are so clueless you will never be able to explain to them what a real sports car is......also, with respect to vipers, if a car has a v-10 it better be damn fast.....the nsx is truely the superior car

I wouldn't go as saying the NSX is superior to the viper, but I was just saying that the S2K and the SRT-4 are in the same class while the NSX is closer to the SRT than the S2K is.

The Viper is definetly the faster car, but what do you sacrifice to be the faster car?

-Comfort
-Reliability
-Fuel mileage
-Feel of the car
-Visibility
-Maintenance costs
...and I'm sure much much more.

They did correct alot of the things people complained about with the GTS/RT-10 in the SRT-10...so kudos for that.

I had my choice when I bought my car: NSX or GTS...there is no comparison, but thats just my opinion.

I only see two things that should be considered when buying a "supercar". All others should be restricted to the "daily driver" list...

How can you be so closed minded?..the SRT4 is in the S2000 league. With a few simple mods it was able to get 8th in OneLapOfAmerica (http://www.onelapofamerica.com). That's pretty good considering the competition (Vipers, TT Z06, EVO's,...). Open up your mind...the car runs a 14.1 1/4 mile at 100 mph. That's a FWD car that runs as fast as the S2000. With a LSD and a few suspension mods it will easily hang with the S2000.

Here's the million dollar question: What is a real sports car? ( this question is reserved for oshp515)
