Default A nice little M5 encounter

i was heading to a friends house on a 4lane road already going a decent speed when i noticed a brand new white m5 coming on my tail quickly..

i proceded to let him by and followed suit, he then noticed i was pacing him and punched it but i got stuck behind a car...

we ended up catching a light a little further down the road. the light turns green but i didnt know if hed race it so i just revved out first a bit when i noticed him punch it, so i did then too!

he proceded to put about 3 cars on me to 100mph. i was grinning ear to ear as i thought he was just going to embarrass me, i was very pleased with the s' performance!

we got stopped at the next light and the guy rolled down his window and said "i should have done alot better than that with 10 cylinders!" i then told him i was also surprised and that he has a beatiful m5. he then gave me a thumbs up and went on his way...real cool guy prob in his 40s.

my s2k is a 100% completely stock 07 btw. with the cdv removed i think i could have kept ALOT more ground as it was slipping a bit.

are you sure he wasnt just cruising?

the new M5's are quick at 500HP out the factory, i dont know.... 3 car lengths seem to little especially since you admitted you were slipping with the CDV. then again, you guys let off at 100...

he was definately in it to win it or else he wouldnt have stopped to say how well i kept up with him...

dont forget it is a heavy car plus the fact we stopped at 100mph. had we kept going im sure he would have proceded to but another bus on me...haha!

heavy car granted, 500HP....more than double the power of the S2K... lol.

now if the M5 weighed twice as much as the S2K i can see more reasoning to that.

Well there is a mode in the M5 for city or relaxed driving limiting it to '400'hp...

Good little encounter, but in reality that car should have put bus length on a stock S

I believe the 400 hp is the default "mode". You have to set the 500 through the I-drive or program the "M" button to do it.

Maybe he was only in 400hp mode or whatever, but still he should have put more distance on you.

If your sprinted to 100mph that's about what the S2000 traps at in the quarter where as the M5 traps in the 117-118mph range. Should have been a larger margin...I'm guessing the guy hasn't figured out how to extract the full potential of his M5.
