Performance or Preservation
I've had my S2000 since August and up until October I would race my stock car against any fast looking car I could find. Now for some reason it seems I've lost the urge to race. I find myself more concerned with the preservation of the car rather then the number of cars I can out perform. I strongly belive the S2000 will go up in value if it is kept in mint condition with low mileage.
I applaud your thoughtfulness.
My feeling is one can still enjoy the cars performance without having to race everything out there. Plus, the added advantage, if the car is well kept and not raced, it will hold its value much better. Especially with all of those racers breaking theirs.

I think that you have found the pleasure in simply driving the car.
To me driving fast is like this:
You buy a car you enjoy
You then drive really face while racing people and thus arrive at your destination 2 minutes quicker than you normally would have.
This equals 2 minutes that you could have spent with the car enjoying its finer/more sutble points.
multiply this by each time you do it and it adds up to be alot of time lost enjoying the feel of the seats and the feel of the shifter and the sound of the engine and the grip and enviornment around you as you drive and the girl that's looking at you three lanes over and ........

I think the answer is quite simple...you've grown up. You realize you have nothing to prove to anyone.
I was next to a Corrado at a stoplight last night. As the light turned green, we took off normally. Next thing I know, he floors it and goes blowing past me. He looked like a total ass...it was quite funny. I was quite content with the knowledge that if I really wanted to, I could have humiliated him. I didn't need to actually do it in order to be happy. I guess I've grown up too.
