I implied "growing up" in my response.

How does a used car buyer know that the car hasn't been street raced though? Most bolt-on mods are also 'bolt-off' and I would expect anyone selling their S2K would put it back as stock as possible and sell the parts separately.

I think you can have your cake and eat it too. To have a car like the S2000 and not use it like it was intended to be driven would take the fun out of owning it for me. I don't launch race, speed shift, or generally "horse whip" it, as that is disrespectful of the machine. I do love to push it hard though windy roads and will accept challengers under the right conditions to a roll on race! Is anyone ever going to believe you when you go to sell it that you babied it anyhow? More importantly, it's how you maintain it, and with a little respect, should give you years of service and great resale value! Do what makes you happy, just my 2C's. Phil

Growing up??!!! The sooner you guys realize that although getting older is mandatory, growing up is optional, the happier you will be, and the more good memories you will have!

Age has nothing to do with "growing up."

For example, my dad is 52, but just yesterday, we went out to test drive whatever we could get ahold of (Cooper S, CLK430 Cabrio, CLK55 AMG, TT 225hp, S4, M3 SMGII, and E34 M5). And yes, we drove the hell out of them!
And then to top it off, after some spirited driving on the way home, we (or "he," rather) did about 8 perfectly-executed donuts in the cul de sac!

My dad drives his cars, and drives them hard.

You just got to do what gives you the most pleasure.

If your pride comes from driving a perfectly mint roadster that is like new, then don't squawk the tires and baby it like it was your sweet heart.

If you love driving the car, as opposed to loving the car itself, then drive it like you stole it.

I suppose most people are some where between the two.

People who love the car see hard driven cars with paint chips and eventual ware and tare and think "what a waste."

People who love to drive see a mint roadster that does not get pushed to the edge of driving and think "what a waste."

I strongly belive the S2000 will go up in value if it is kept in mint condition with low mileage.
Reminds me of a little old lady my parents know with a low mileage Mustang II she kept after her husband died. When the time came to sell it she was shocked to find it only worth a couple thousand dollars at best.

Why? Simple, they made tons of them. The S2000 is in the same boat. If you are looking at your new S2000 as an investment, stop looking, it's not going to happen.
