I once heard a really good analogy for this. Kinda Confucious-esque, but humor it.

If you stand in a redwood forest the trees are all straight and tall. Guess what? They didnt give a damn what the one next to them was doing and it didn't affect them one bit.

I am very similar in my outlook on the people here. I donate my time and resources to help others and I take the time and energy to learn from what others have taken the time to teach me. Beyond that, I could care less who owns what and how they spend their time. This is a hobby for me, not some kind of pissing contest.

 

Unfortunately, some trees are not straight at all, and like to touch each others' roots. I assume this is where conflict arises.
