Default R32 vs. S2000

I raced a r32 GTI on the freeway yesterday and pulled away easily. So easily that i started to shift like at 7000 in the end to fifth. The R32 did sound crazy mean and good though. Also could not keep up with me on the freeway onramps.

I don't think we would pull away easily. Are you sure it wasn't a VR6 GTI?

Is your s2k stock, the R32 is putting down 240hp also, not sure on tq, or the weight of the car.

yes it was a real r32 as it was my friend who bought it. I hear the car weighs in heavy at 3400 pounds and we do pull easy. A very nice car that i wouldnt pay 32000 for. Come on you can get a S2000. Right? The choice is clear.

Nice Win but the R32 is was not built for drag racing but overall performance and balance. The AWD platform is heavy and yes the current version only makes 240HP. As an enthusiast who can appreciate the car, I think it is a great package.

The S2000 is hard to beat for the price but I think they are two entirely different cars. It is a shame VW did not put a little more A$$ under the hood! Until then, I expect to see a lot more wins on this board...

Cheers..

Excuses. It's funny that you see similar posts anytime X car loses to Y car.

The reality is that the R32 is an overweight, underperforming and overpriced tarted up econo shit box.

(this coming from an enthusiast who can find the positive in just about any car -- but VW and Audi have had their head stuck in their ass far too long to ignore)

The GTI R32 puts down 236 ft-lb of torque @ 3000 RPM! I was seriously considering this car for possible purchase when it was due to come but decided that I couldn't do with the VW's shortened RPM band relative to the S's. I am more than confident that I made the right decision.
