Steve C, I tell you what, if you can pull my S4, I will lay off. But I seriously doubt you can. You cannot be name calling so easily. You have no torque my friend. No torque at all. I will pass your ass on any track of your choice in my heavy ass S4 4 door sedan or an R-32.

Yes, I am a Skip Barber Graduate but you need to seriously reconsider talking smack on quarter mile numbers that you might not even be capable of reproducing.

S4KiD.. Yes, I am faster than you..1.1 pounds of Boost BABY! And Yes, twice if not more your torque! GOOD BYE!

My stage 2 2001 S4 (sold for deposit on a new home)seemed faster than my S2K. But the handling wasn't great. The S4 felt porky at the autox. The new B6 is nice with the Recaros (coworker owns one) but if I had to pick between the B6 S4 and E46 M3, it would be the M3. No way is the M3 far inferior. Sat in an R32 at the autoshow and thought it was a very nice car. Pretty much S4-like in a Golf body. I definitely wouldn't mind owning one.

Steve C., I think some of the comments about VAG were a little...childish.

As for the slow comments, they are capable cars. Dare I say as capable in a straight line as a StooK? Can carry a gang more stuff and what they lack fom the showroom can more than be made up for. Vr6 motors like mods and the car is begging for a set of sways and coilovers.

Homeboy ran a 13.9---full interior and all. Bone stock and a 97.xxx mph trap.

You guys should drive one.

The B5 S4 was every bit as fast as an e36 M3....and it benefited from quattro.
In terms of acceleration the cars are close -- however the E36M was a more capable car -- more of a "drivers" car.

IMO...Audi dominates a very exclusive market.....and I love the fact that not every other person I see is driving an Audi
They dominate no market. The reason you don't see many of them is because not many folks are willing to lay out the cash for one when better alternatives are out there -- which feeds into my point above:

Audi (and VW) have strayed from their roots in the past decade. They now produce overweight, underperforming cars at a premium -- they also have a real knack for slapping the worlds worst, row, row, row your boat shifter into their "performance models" as well.

The peanut gallery knee-jerk reactionaries would do well to stop comparing stock cars to modified ones. Any one of us could make a Festiva run 12's with enough money and time .. what's the point again?

-Steve (who has another car that runs high 11's stock -- in case ya'll really still want to run 'em)

The R32 is a well performing street cruiser which is does well on the tracks. It's by no means meant to compete with the S2000s/Evos/Stis/Etc. VW completely knows this.

The R32 DOES have a nice interior though over all the car's I've mentioned.
