The Z is a beautiful car, I heard NISMO is already designing a supercharger for it. My local Nissan had a $5500 mark-up for the Z. Is it the same across the country?

No. Here in NJ, we have a dealership called Lynne's Nissan. They are selling there cars right at MSRP. They don't have any of the $26K ones though. The Z's they have are the "touring" models and they put the 18s on them. I know I've said the Z is butt ugly...but once you see them in person...they're actually quite nice. There's definitely some substance and it has alot of road presence. I wonder how the craftsmanship will be considering the crappy quality of the Altima.

OK, how about we compare reviews from the same magazine, MotorTrend.

2001 S2000 0-60 5.2 seconds
2003 350Z 0-60 5.49 seconds

I think once the aftermarket manufacturers get their hands on the 350Z, it will be all over for us. I dont know how good that car is tuned from the factory but if it responds to mods well, we are all in trouble.

I wouldn't worry too much. The VQ35 hasn't been a really mod happy engine in the Maxima (and to a lesser extent the Altima). Sure, the typical intake and exhaust are worth some power, but not that much (compared to something like a TL-S for example). Cams for that car will be more expensive (4 of them) and not as easy to install. Same goes for cylinder head work, etc. Given that the Z is already making 30 hp more than the Maxima engine, I don't think you'll see massive gains from bolt ons. The only question mark in my mind is the ECU. Might be some power there and Nismo would have the ability to unlock it.

I did go and look at one but I would put money on my slightly modified S2000 beating it from a role as soon as I get 40 more lbs off of it and get my air intake on.
I just think my car has a significantly better weight to hp ratio.

Who cares on the street? Displacement only matters when racing to fit w/in a class. The price is great, and it seems to perform quite well, which is OK w/ me.

The S2000 is very highly regarded and in the same price range, so it's an obvious car to compare against.
