My friend builds race cars for a living, full race setups, all chromolly tube chassis, he's a master fabricator.

Before I bought my new F20C1 swap(previous owner blew the original) I was contemplating an LS1 swap, because it is around the same price.

He said he could make it fit, probably have to cut the frame and reweld it etc, but it would work, all custom motor mounts etc.

As far as the instrument panel, it would all be swapped out for aftermarket gauges.

I wish I would of done it, 300-350 horsepower and about 200 more torque...yeah, it would be bad ass, not even modded.

I also read the difference in weight between the LS1 and the F20C1 is between 40-60 pounds. You have to remember, the LS1 is an all aluminum motor as well, and is pretty light.

My problem is, I'm 20, I bought the car to be my daily driver.

give me a few years I might get crazy.
That's awesome, I wonder how much he'd charge for something like that.

What about the tranny though, that seems like that biggest issue to me.

Where did you read this? Yes, the blocks are alu, but the pistons, rods, crankshaft, header are steel. There are twice as many of those parts in a V8. So the extra aluminum of a second bank of 4 cylinders, + 4 more pistons/rods + another exhaust header only weight an extra 60 lb?

As far as the tranny. No way the Honda 6sp is going to just bolt up to an LS1 block. Even if it did, the ratios and FD aren't ideal for a high torque V8 are they?

Your friend got a website I can check out?
