RX-7 vs ap1
I was not spraying nitrous. My bottle is out for the winter. It got to 50 degrees here so I went out with a local top 10 guy for some roll races.
1983 RX-7 with a non-turbo 13B swapped in, street ported, dual weber carbs, and full exhaust(sounded like a cutout to me).
AP1 mods in sig.
1st run- 35mph roll; I started in 2nd since I thought he'd be an easy kill. He pulled almost a car on me before I hit vtec and he stayed there.
2nd run- 30mph roll; starting in 1st we stayed even all the way to about 100mph and shut down.
He surprised the hell out of me. He said that with him in the car it weighed about 2100lbs. My friend followed behind and video taped the 2nd run. I'll see if he can upload it.

I have no clue for his hp. He went to the 1/8th mile track earlier this year and ran a 9.3@75mph, but with a 2.6 60ft lol. Said he couldn't get traction.
He's got it pretty much stripped out for AutoXing and dragging.

Vid of the second run. I washed my car afterwards. It was the first above freezing day for a month.

Not trying to be judgmental and don't want to start a big debate...street racing is never "safe", but all of us can use common sense on "safer" places to run. That vid made me cringe. Lots of on-coming traffic with no median/divider and driveways all along the road. Not the smartest place to run to 100mph.
Also...if that is a child I hear in your friends car while videoing your race and racing himself...well BIG

He wasn't racing. He was catching up to us. We were driving to the car wash all together. He was driving a 4,158lb Subaru Tribeca with a 3.0 250 crank hp engine and 3 passengers. Trust me he wasn't racing.
I don't want to start an arguement either, but you did come into a section called "street encounters." What did you expect? Me giving him a thumbs up and driving off?

Yeah that's def. a kid. Street racing is one thing. I participate myself. But NEVER on a residential street like that. One slip up on SOMEONE ELSE'S part, some one is dying. Whether it's them or your kid flying through the windshield because he can't properly fit in a seat belt. Just my .02
First to the speed limit would've been cool for the road and traffic vol.

yeah if you street race atleast make it to where no one else is around so if you crash you only kill yourself of the other racer. Not a family. Good run tho just pick a better spot next time.

I was the one driving the camera car. If you watch the first vid you can see that I wasn't speeding trying to keep up with them. In the second vid, I had zoomed in with the camera. Yes, I had my boys in the car with me, but it was my damn 7 passenger SUV. I wasn't in the cobalt, which by the way, would have beat either of the 2 cars racing in their current state.
