I wasn't in the cobalt, which by the way, would have beat either of the 2 cars racing in their current state.

It would have. I have to spray to beat him. When he was on his stock pulley, he was the quickest stock pullied Cobalt and ran I think a 13.6 on a stock pulley. He ran a 13.2 in October.

It was a spur of the moment thing so we didn't go looking for spots. As I said, we were on our way to the car wash.

Normally, I go out with a small group to a secluded area to race. Since it was 50 degrees for a few hours and we haven't gone out since early October, we did 2 small roll races while going to the car wash. I don't consider this a big deal. Now if we were caught in traffic or doing more runs, then we just wouldn't have raced.

could've picked a better spot to not be in the public eye but it didn't seem dangerous to me like all the above posts made it out to be...

He wasn't racing. He was catching up to us. We were driving to the car wash all together. He was driving a 4,158lb Subaru Tribeca with a 3.0 250 crank hp engine and 3 passengers. Trust me he wasn't racing.

I don't want to start an arguement either, but you did come into a section called "street encounters." What did you expect? Me giving him a thumbs up and driving off?
OK...thanks for the explanation on the cam car from you and ralliartist. Glad to hear the kids were in a safe car that wasn't participating. Saddly, we have had someone post on here before and there was a toddler in a car seat while the jerk was racing.

And glad to hear that normally you would run at a safer location. But yeah...if it had been me (and I do street race myself as well as moderate the Street Encounters forum, so I come in here quite often), I would have stopped at 10-15mph over the speed limit on a busy road like that. If he had wanted to go more, then I would have motioned him to either follow me to a safer place or invited him to meet up when the weather is good at your normal spot. Just because someone else is lacking common sense doesn't mean I have to lose mine.

Anyway...what's done is done. Just consider for next time...

Yeah those things can be super light. Imagine one of those gutted out like that with a LS2 swapped in. A buddy of mine has one of those and it is fast as all hell.

My buddy auto-x'ed one of those in C Street Prepared. Stripped beyond belief and he's even got an aftermarket engine management system. IIRC he dynoed about 240 crank HP. That thing is a beast with sticky rubber!

I hate the sound of an uncorked rotary but I can believe your results.

I couldn't imagine what would happen if you caught a flat at 100mph in that kind of area....

I participate in some "street" racing here in the Atlanta area but its usually at 1-3 am and the expressways here are 6-8 lanes wide

They were 2 UNPLANNED races on our way to the car wash. Not a bunch of people street racing at 1-3am. 2 completely different things.

The road was open so we said, "GEEE, why not?" Do you get my drift?
