Default S vs Supra

I'm not one for street racing. But sometimes situations emerge that sure does encourage it. I ended up at a light with a Red Supra this afternoon. There was no body in front of us and speed limit is 55. He had pulled up past the stop bar, which I don't do. I was at the tail end of his car listening to his exhaust. He started off nicely and I just paced along. When I was at about 55 mph and in 3rd, I hear him hit it. I punched it too and was quickly in vtec. It seemed like I creeped up on him just a little bit at the top of 3rd. When I shifted to 4th, I heard his car make a funny noise and he fell back in a hurry. Soon after we were approaching a congested area with decreased speed limit so I was focused on slowing down. He came up aggressively on my tail, but I wasn't going to do anymore runs at that point. He finally backed off and went on his way. I don't know if he missed a gear or has a problem with his car. I always did like the Supra. It was a very pretty car.

Is your car modified? Sounds like he mis-shifted.

no mods for me, my car is stock. I don't know about the Supra as far as what it had. I was surprised I kept up. Maybe his car was not running well or he just couldn't drive.

I am not saying ur lying because I to have raced a Supra, an auto twin turbo one that is. We did it from a stop and we were dead even for three gears, then I think once he got into third he jumped ahead of me to where his rear was at my front end. After that jump we stayed dead even again. I love the supra, originally what I wanted to buy and it's my fav car. I know the manuel would have killed me badly, but I was surprised I hung ight there with the auto. Good runs man.

There is a TT Supra local to me who has been having horrible problems with his Blow Off Valve - causing him to have buildup issues (and who knows what else) right after 2 shifts. Could be a bit of the same issue.

On the other hand - when the TT's are upgraded to large singles it takes them much longer to build up speed because of the added turbo lag, but watch out when they finally reach the sweet spot

I can see how a stock S2000 can hang with a TT Supra (depending on mods) up to 55 miles an hour, but after that it *should* be all over for the S2000.

hummmm...a properly driven auto, which is easy, would have killed you more than a 6-speed. If he did a little brake boost you would have never had a chance. Sounds like you raced a sick supra, even stock my MKIV felt much much faster than my S.

I agree with BPUKiller...Some of the fastest Supras out there are Auto's. He may have mis-shifted, who knows. I know I raced a 6 speed Supra in the Evo and I got the initial jump and stayed ahead of him until I shifted to 3rd then he pulled on me pretty hard.

Good run, but be careful when messing with Supras
