FWIW - i raced a fellow S2K member - me in my S8 and him in his S2000 - and beat him - handily, i might add.

friend of mine just got an s8, replacing a 540. Difference is night and day according to him. he believes its pretty fast - close to his other car, a 355. The 355 has been in the garage(parked, not broken) and he loves driving his s8, even over the ferrari. (so he is a reputable car guy with money) So I told him, anytime he wants the battery charged on the 355, let me know...

i've been using the "in-the-rain" argument with my S2000 too - ever since i got S03's
i'll 'smoke" any S2000 that's running on OE SO2's in the rain

My cousin owns an S8. He's a big car nut. He owns a modified 300ZX TT as well. His Z smoked me. We did some highway runs with the S8. From 60mph - 120mph, three times. I pulled about 1.5-2 cars every time. Pretty negligible, but I was getting ahead. Stock v. stock.
This was my experience and based on this experience the reason why I was pointing out your BS.
It's all good, though. You have a nice ride and pretty good taste in cars. Is that what you want to hear old man? Or should I go off on how stupid you were to pick an S8 over an M5?

S8 will hit 60 in 5.4 secs...and with all it's added gizmo's as well as being automatic you would do well in a race in an S2k to beat it...probably about the same if an S2000 gets a good launch.
I would imagine that from 75+ the Audi would power past an S2000.
As for the M5 rather than a S8 - well I would properly go for the BM but the S8 ain't exactly a bad car :-)

it's not as "balls out" as an M5, but, it's a better cruising car than an M5 (quieter, smoother etc.)
hey, gimme a break! it's for my wife (just having had a child, we REFUSED to drive an SUV or minivan and opted for a full-size sedan instead)
