So I was at a stoplight this evening when someone pulls up next to me with low, loud exhaust burble. When the light turns green, I pull away at my normal speed, and I hear his exhaust go to a thunderous roar - it sounds like he's going full throttle. I don't want him cutting me off, so I stay in first past my normal 13 mph shift point, gradually increasing to about half throttle, which is all it takes to stay beside him. Then as I shift to second at 30 or so, I notice his lane has some slow cars ahead, so I floor it to give him plenty of space to pull in behind me when he switches lanes.

At the next light, he pulls up beside me, and I look over to see that it's ... an ancient Camry?

Why the heck would anyone bother to put an aftermarket exhaust in an old Camry?

 

Sometimes the old factory exhausts need be replaced and the owners would think, "What the hell, let's just put a loud aftermarket exhaust on there instead..."

Kinna funny, what I saw the other day was even funnier. Coming home I saw a Nissan maxima with a Vtec emblem on the rear of the bumper, what's that all about...? Just thought it was stupid...

 

our S is pretty slow off the line, i bet the camery got in front and cut off the S.

 

man kids will do anything...(o wait i am a kid) whatever. ive seen custom exhaust on a 99 corolla and the tip was at least twice the size of the s2000's stock tips.

 

You may be giving him too much credit when you say exhaust, cause most likely all he did was throw on a muffler like most of the kids are doing...unless a muffler constitutes an exhaust system these days, who knows. good half throttle kill, i suppose

 

So, this Camry 'beat' me last night:

I'm going 45 down a 40mph road. Standard, minding my own business. I see HID's off in the distance. . . once again, in this part of town, not an issue. He runs up, tails me. So I inch ahead to get some space. He tails me. . . so, it's time to smoke it.

Took a hard R onto the Freeway and gun it. Get 5-10 cars out in front of him, and tuck myself into a whole lane of SUV's. . . trying to get out of sight.

What do I see 1-2 minutes later? Yeah. I Gun it again. . . tuck. . . he passes me with flashers. . . fine. . . at 100+ mph in traffic. Way to go, you endangering douchebag.

My only hope is that he did that later on to a very rage-filled driver. . . with a Yukon. . . and a big bumper. . . .
