Default S2000 vs. Integra type R conversion?

I don't street race that often and rarely post up on here but I got a notible encounter the other day.

I was heading home on the freeway and was about to merge to another freeway. There is a 270* connector ramp that links one freeway to another. As I was heading towards it pretty fast a white integra hopped in front of me. I had to slow down quite a bit and this irked me somewhat because the guy had just ruined my chance of bombing that ramp and having some cornering fun. I stuck on his tail real close and he tried to lose me. This ramp was marked 20MPH. We were only doing 30 I would have lost him if I was up in front.

Towards the end of the ramp he understeered a bit and I saw his car slide out to the outside. He slowed down and regained control. As the ramp straightened out he punched it and so did I.

I redline 2nd, shift, then he shifts. What surprised me was a loud backfire noise followed by a big flame shooting out the exhaust.

We floor 3rd. I move one lane over to over take. It's even all through 3rd.

Shift to 4th, I start to inch up on him and by the end of the gear I over take him

Shift to 5th and I'm up far enough that I slow down. (about 2-3 carlengths) No sense in going faster than that.

I flash him the peace sign and take my exit.

He follows me off the exit ramp and we chat for a sec at the light. Told me he had a B18 type R swap. I don't know what other mods though because the light turned green and we had to go. He took the next left and took off. I assume I/H/E for the basics. Pretty cool guy.

Cliff notes: S2000 owns a B18 swapped integra (that spits flames ) on a freeway connector ramp. Then walks him from 2nd gear to top of 4th coming from one car length behind to 3+ car lengths ahead.

My mods: 70mm header-back exhaust.

Note: To all you Integra fanboys out there. This post is not intended to flame anyone. This is just a recall of my encounter.

B18 is the stock Integra motor unless it was an LS??? Probably running an LS VTEC set up. A B18 (non R) even with I/H/E shouldn't keep up with an S until 5th he should have been slowly falling behind from WOT...

At least thats been my experience. Now LS-V or B20-V could be a dif story depending on who built it

It probably was a Non-VTEC motor if he said B18...

A properly LSVTEC will make 200 whp... In a car weighing 2500 lbs or so, it should pull on the S2000..

should is the key word there. i was able to take a B20 hatch that made 212whp in my modded NA s2k.
