04s are not faster on the straight how many times has this been discussed. Not trying to start a brawl triang but the performance times are all same for every year. Also the 04s have to do an extra shift in the 1/4 and 0-60.
They are equal, 04 might have a lil faster track time but on the streets nah its even and DEPENDS on driver

one of the guys here traded his 01 for an 04. 4 of us with 00-03 cars have lost each and every time. and there is nothing done to his car.

I bet when you put him in your car and you in his, he'd still beat you, right? J/K! I do have a feeling the '04 may be slightly faster.

with my 00 i ran a 13.89 ata 100.39 stock. with the 04 my best run was 14.075 at 99.23. They have a little more power but the 8k redline kills it. I have raced many pre 04 S2000's and they all beat me cause i had to shift and they kept going. The gear are also set lower, i used to drop it into 2nd at about 48mph and be around 6k with lots to go. Now i drop it at 48 and I'l be at almost 7 with only 1k to go.
In my experience the pre 04's are faster.

an s2k in the 13's I am a bit hesitant to believe unless your racing down a hill. Flame me back all you want but those numbers seem high. I love the car, have one, and have been to the track and seen many run... maybe your altitude is way different then here in Boston area or something but those numbers are OUTRageuous (in a good way) at least in my neck of the city.... and please do not respond by telling me no one in boston knows how to drive or launch the S etc... maybe that car you ran was a freak from the factory but those numbers seem real good... 14.4 is more in line with a stock s2k, 14.25 with a real solid launch, 14.15 with a real real good launch and maybe a 14. flat but 13.8's... dam you must be an unreal driver. Anyone else seen a stock s2k run in the 13's stock? Curious... thanks
With a short ram intake and an HKS exhaust i did 13.7. I agree not everyone can get these super low times but you can't go and say the S is a 14.4 car. i took my 04 to the track for the first time. Not knowing where to launch and where to shift with the new motor and all that stuff, these are the results.
If you look at the clock time, with each run it got better. Then it started raining and track closed so i couldn't get anymore runs in but i could've gotten into 13's that day with a couple more runs. This is bone stock by the way, with the top of the airbox off.
