hey whatsup guys! I havent really been a long member on this site but there is something I wanted to ask all of you. I believe this is perfect for car talk because it involves not only the S2K.
Well here goes. Today I went to a party with my cousin and I ended up meeting an ignorant 08 Civic Si owner who thinks his shit can beat anything. Ive had my S2k for about a week and half so Im still on cloud 7 haha. So we get into this heated argument about who would win in a race. He tries being cool and spits out that he has a greddy turbo on his civic which he later admitted was a lie. He finally tells me that he has a exhaust an a chip that makes V-tech kick in around 4500.. while a stock S2000 V-tech engine kicks in around 6500+ rpms ( sorry if im mistaking about this im going by what my cars v-tech kicks in). So by all you S2k experts who had their car longer..have u ever heard of a chip like this? and would this Si still beat me?
thanks so much. PacMan

I don't know about your level of awareness but your reaction time for Vtec engagement is 500 RPM slow.
Anyway based on the mod's he mentioned (Which I'd say he fabricated to make his car sound fast) you'd beat him no problem given he's stock.
I believe there is a HonDATA or various engine management computers for RSX/Si's that allow them to lower the VTec engagement point. But based on how he described it he has neither and is spouting typical Honda owner BS.

I've done some highway pulls on my homie's FG2 and I've out ran him plenty of times. It's a close race, maybe a car length at most, but I do win every time. Those K20's are srs bizzniss

Can you really compare a souped up econobox to a roadster? I'm fine with the Civic, but like the popular opinions from the other thread about the $32K Mugen Civic, a Civic is a Civic no matter how many letters and numbers you put before or after it.

I bought my car for the style and feel when I go top down while having a state of the art engine (for when it was launched). Why did you choose this car?

Wrong forum for the question...should really go in this sticky in the Street Encounters forum:

But...IF he really has the mods he says he's got, you may not beat him by as much as you think. We had an s2k dyno day recently, and a couple of Si's joined us. They were both well modded with bolt-ons and Hondata. Their whp numbers were pretty much on par with near stock MY02-03 s2ks. They weigh under 100lb more than an s2k...even for the sedan.
If you know how to launch properly...run him from a dig where his FWD is a disadvantage.
