On the way home today I followed an older 911 with an antique tag on it. The car had some major exhaust and a roll cage inside it. We turned onto a stretch of road that is about 3 miles long with a lot of twisties and he slowed down. Then I see him stick his hand out the window and wave bye-bye. I was already in second gear doing about 40ish (in VTEC) and the chase was on. By the time I was well into 3rd I was pulling up beside him. I backed off in fear of oncoming traffic. I continued to follow him (at a safe distance) the rest of the way down the road. When we got to an intersection he wouldn't even look at me. I guess he was upset he didn't go 'bye-bye'! I am so glad this my hasn't sold yet...

I was going to correct my typo and say that I am glad my car hasn't sold yet, but for some reason it will not let me edit my post

Older 911s are kinda fun, cause you're never sure what you're going to get. First, it can be hard to identify the exact model, and that matters. Second, they can be heavily modified to go much faster. And finally, and most importantly, old 911s require a skilled driver to extract the most on the curvy bits.

I've never had the opp to run an older 911 in my S2K, although I had one hand me my ass on the freeway in my supercharged CRX. I thought I was a sleeper, he was too and his gun was bigger, so to speak.

Anyways, good run. You've got to be awfully good or cocky to wave goodbye to someone before you know what their car can do. Obviously, he wasn't good/fast enough, or didn't know enough :-)

I hate it when people act like they want to play and then don't play nice. Thank God the coke can didn't hit your car! I once had a cigarette hit right in the middle of my hood, but it didn't even leave a mark.

I got into a urban highway battle (very playstationesque in fact) with an old (80's) 911 a few weeks ago, and as usual when I saw that the guy was willing to drive a bit faster than the speed limit, I let him pass in front to follow him, thus avoiding those nasty speed cameras you sometimes encounter in france. So we were in very light traffic (2-3 oclock in the morning) heading towards paris in 90 to 110 kmph speed limit roads, and what followed was one of the fastest "races" I've ever done, we went between 180 and 244kmh, for about 5 minutes, then arrived in Paris and took different routes. I was quite amazed by the acceleration of an apparently old model, and by the sound of his car.

90-110kmh = 55-68mph
180-244kmh = 111-151mph
