It is unfortunate that like the rest of the mid-east, instead of taking these profits and applying them towards education and real infrastructure building, the lions share goes into a few folks pockets, much of the rest is thrown around to placate the ignorant masses for whom an "education" is considered reading some nonsense book written by a nutter who went into the desert many years ago.

All of them designed by and using parts made by western countries. This reality plays well into the above point about a higher education being mostly considered the study of the Koran. It really has to chap the asses of these "educated" people that outside of oil, they have no impact on the world, none. In fact the mid-east has to import just about everything from technology to cheap labour -- all the while reading this book which claims they are supposed to inherit the earth.

When that oil runs out, shit is really going to hit the fan.

Er, relax. Even if you were a member of DAR (people who have been in America since the revolution), people would have been just as quick to get on your case about this one. I believe you were the first one to bring up American / not-American (though naturally others jumped on it once you brought it up). As for why people think you might be lying, often when people post stories about how they beat a much more capable car, it turns out they are indeed lying.

Personally, I believe you: the Corvette doesn't have a big advantage over the S2000 in lateral Gs, and you were in a situation where that was what was limiting. If you were willing to drive closer to the limit of your car than the Corvette driver, then I can easily believe you beat him.

However, some of the posters here have never raced in other than a straight line, so they may not understand these subtleties. The fact that they start throwing insults doesn't mean you have to stoop to their level.
