Default S2K vs. 350Z

I raced my buddy when we were both stock and I pulled on him about 2 car lengths. However, I have been driving a stick for 3 years now and when we raced he had only been driving a stick for about 3 months. So I know if he was more experienced it would have been a little closer, but I think I still would have won. Anyways...

My buddy has a 350Z with all bolt on's now: Exhaust with Test Pipes, Headers, Intake, Pulleys, Pleneum Spacer, and Unichip. His stock dyno was at 230 rwhp and now after the bolt on's he's at 288 rwhp.

I have an 02 S2K with nothing other than the berk technology test pipe, axial flow short shifter and comptech reinforced diff and 4.56 gears. And before I installed those I dyno'ed at 203 rwhp all stock. And I ran a 13.9 stock.

1. How much time do you guys think I can cut off my 1/4 mile?

2. How bad, if at all, do you think I would get beat by my buddies Z?

Thanks

there are slips on my350z of intake, test pipe, exhaust 350z's on DR's running 12.7 with a 1.7 or 1.6 0-60 at around 106 or 107. so... with all that tuning hes got going on there ur gonna have ur hands full even with ur gears. but the best way to find out will be to just run him.

Yeah, I figured there be no exact way to tell unless we just raced. So we will have to do that some time soon and I will keep you guys updated.

Has anybody with a basically stock S and gears run the 1/4 mile? If so what was your time and trap?

Thanks guys

A friend has similar mods on his Z minus the chip. He raced a stock S and it wasnt pretty. Your gears will do a lot, but IMHO they wont let you match 288 whp.

Run him and vid it

the best i've seen a car with just gears do was 13.3

however, i dont think you're gonna have enough to take your buddy, unless his driving skills aren't up to par

288rwhp? the best dyno i have seen out of a bolt on 350Z is 265rwhp. Id like to see a dyno slip out of this guy, because his car is responding better to mods than a cobra or LS1. so a dyno or someone else with similar results with a dyno would be great otherwise, I think this guy is lying to you.

keep in mind dyno's are just tools for tuning. all of them read different. high or low doesn't matter so long as he got the best tuning out of it.

you are totally right, dyno's are just for tuning. I just did about 20 minutes of research on 350zmotoring.com and sure enough I was correct.

most Z's with full bolt ons dyno on the low end in the low 250rwhp range and on the high end in the 265 rwhp range. that includes headers, intake, plenum, ecu reflash, and so on.

another guy dynoed 276rwhp with these mods, notice the addition of CAMS;

TechnoSquare ECU - custom flash
Nismo R-tune Cams
JWT Lightweight Flywheel
Crawford Plenum
JWT Popcharger Intake
Borla True Dual Exhaust
RT High-Flow Cats
Borla Headers
UR Racing Pulleys
Z-xtreme Grounding Kit

unfortunately there was another outlier that made 276 rwhp with all the same mods above without cams. in conclusion expect 240-250rwhp with basic mods, expect 250-265 with just about everything but cams, and expect 275rwhp+ with cams and all other supporting mods.

the first guy that made 276rwhp with cams said he made 300rwhp on a mustang dyno which always dynos cars lower than they should because of a different formula and *more accurate* way of checking horsepower. but for some reason this guy dynoed 300rwhp on a mustang dyno and then dynoed 276 on a regular dyno jet. somethings fishy! apparently a Z's 1.1 ratio is fifth gear and sometimes people do the pull in 4th gear.

sorry for the long post, I was just curious! all info gathered here; http://www.350zmotoring.com/forums/showthr...44&page=1&pp=15
