x2...
if you do some research...you will find that the 225 hp version turbo CHIPPED with revo will boost your HP from 225 to 280hp. i have the same engine (not turbo) in a 1.8t gti and when i got chipped i was beating s2000's (stock of course). yes indeed the tt is a beast (weight wise) but with the k04 sport in it chipped, you wont be able to touch them....
btw, the TT 225 was the car i was going to get next to the s2k as well.
edit: exact numbers after a revo tune is 260HP/284TQ from 225hp/207TQ. which again is a torque beast.

Before I got into the S2K, when I was in High School and early college, I didn't think my funds would be enough for a 30k car, so I was looking at the 1.8t as an option. Those little engines have so much potential. Don't let the VW badge fool you. Bolt-ons and a tune, you got yourself a machine.

No way... they put down some good numbers after a tune. They develop gobs of torque.

There are also single exhaust 180hp AWD TT's, in addition to the dual exhaust 225hp AWD TT's.
180 = 5 speed, single exhaust, single intercooler, ko3 turbo
225 = 6 speed, dual exhaust, dual intercoolers, ko4 turbo
The 225 comes only in AWD. The 180 comes in FWD and AWD.
And there is also a 250hp AWD 3.2L VR6 DSG version, has a different front and rear valance, and a larger rear spoiler.
Of course, this is the last gen TT... the new ones have either the 2.0T or the 3.2L VR6, no visual difference.

listen all of you...
g60racer is correct,
I sold Audis and you likely races a 225, nice car, but not a race car by any means... Small tune and the 1.8t will be a beast. both the 180 and 225 are turbocharge and both will be real fast quickly... the 225 is AWD and the 180 is FrontTrak or FWD... all you need in an audi is a4 with a 1.8t 170bhp engine is $500 and you get 55 hourses for $1000 you get 110... $3000 and you get 200 additional horses, that like over 350 total, but they are heavy. just don't race on in the wet, it would eat you. they're easy to drive...
all that said the S2000 is way more fun to drive thats why I bought mine at Audi... it was traded in for a more practical A4... good for me...
PS if you don't know the DSG is the best trains ever made.

I have a 2002 GTI 1.8t as my 'other car'... I agree with everyone else around here about the 1.8t engine... in it's time, it was one of THE most tuned euro engines (pick up an issue of Eurotuner or European Car... I subscribe to both). There is a huge aftermarket support for it. Why? It responds well to minimal tuning... and it becomes beast with even more tuning. With a stock bottom end, they can handle 300-350 whp with no problem (can't say the same for the clutch!). The torque these 20v engines put out is AMAZING! These cars require NO skill to drive fast. Trust me... I have no skills, and my lightly modded GTI can get off the line faster than many a car. The torque is addicting, and that's why I kept the GTI when I bought my s2k. I'm not a racer and I'm sure most of you could smoke me in your stock sk2s, but you would have to work hard to do it. From my own butt dyno... the s2k if faster at freeway speeds... and MUCH faster around a corner! And, if I HAD to give up one car... it would be the GTI. But, I still love it, and it's a great 2nd car to tool around in!

dont worry about racing on the freeway or anything against stock s2k...heres my mods on my gti...
revo stg2 with FPR
Full catback system with DP
Carbonio CAI with n75 DV
VR6 sachs clutch with lightened flywheel
my buddy was driving my GTI and i was driving my s2k....DEAD EVEN on the freeway. he actually had hella shit in my car plus a passenger.
so not to thread jack or anything, but this is the same engine in a TT (180hp version of course) and its a little bit lighter than a GTi so yes...the TT is still a beast
