So tonight I ran across a corvette - g4 I believe, from the 80s in great shape and shiny. I'm behind him at a light, and he hits it so I figure I'll see if I can keep up. He shifts to first very quickly so I had to hit the breaks before getting into the right lane and hitting the gas. I get next to him and he hits it too. We were pretty even through 2nd, he pulled 1/2 car when I was in 3rd, then I shifted to 4th and began pulling on him before we shut it down right around 100 (I don't usually race so I'm pretty timid about +100 speeds), Anyway I waved, he waved and that was it - nice guy; If we'd had keep going I know I would pulled past him cause I was pulling pretty good when I shut it down and had made up 1/4 car.

Oh well - it was a fun death and I was kinda surprised I kept up so well - I definately would pulled on him from a roll in first so much that he probably wouldn't have caught up; it seemed like his first shift was much quicker than mine...

i raced a 90's corvette convertible w/ top up in my RSX and beat him. but that im 100% sure was about driving skill since the guy in the vette was 17, tho i was too at the time.

nice race, and i like that ego's didnt get in the way, and u guys were able to appretiate eachothers cars and just wave. thats like the ITR i raced, he started to pull in 3rd and the road merges so i let off, but then i followed him and we eventually got to talking and he invited me to do some SCCA events.

 

I don't know much about the 80's Vettes, but I do know that the early 90's LT4 Vettes (C4) ran similar times to the S2K but with slightly higher trap speeds. I have yet to race against one, but I've seen one beaten up by a turbo Prelude.
