S2K vs RX8
Well again this is the hubby "Evil EVO"
I took the S to work today and on the way home, im in the fast lane not really driving fast but enough to get the attention of an RX8. I honestly didnt think he would run, so I just cruised by him and as soon as I got 1-2 cars passed him he floors it and starts to pass me, so I downshift to 4th and immediately stop his momentum and start to pull away from him. I figured he let off when I began passing him, so I slow down. He again gets next to me and I let him go first, he gets about 1 car up and I start pulling again, I would say I put 2-3 cars on him pretty easy, then again it looked like he let off. LOL, so one last time he catches up and this time he stays in it longer. He goes first gets about 1 car and I start to reel him in, I stay on it longer too and by about 120 I was probably 4-5 cars up, dont know if he let off, but it didnt seem very quick. I know when we test dove one it felt fast but it still didnt feel as fast as the S.
I have messed with one in the EVO and that wasnt pretty, off the line he was already dead and he knew it, so he tries from a roll and my "slow from a roll" EVO still managed to pull on him with ease.
Well, thats it for now...I have a few other kills in the EVO, but the list is too long...a few of the cars include early 90s Vette (really slow) Z28 murdered him off the line, Lightning (freeway run, was nice but I pulled hard after getting into 5th) a Porsche Boxster (lol, made him make a quick left after putting a few cars on him) oh well...

My friend has an RX8 with an intake, and my 03' S2K is stock. From a roll, I was barely able to keep a nose ahead of him from 1-3 gear.
You either messed with someone who can't drive, or they weren't really trying. Both cars are close in performance, so I can't see you getting a few cars ahead of a RX8 unless they weren't really racing you.
And no, it's not the driver, as I'm a pretty damn good driver. I think racing from a complete stop is where the S2K would gain the edge, as from a roll, it was too close.

The s2000 is listed as 13.9 sec 0 - 100 and the RX8 as 15.9. In a highway roll these numbers would be the most important and the S "SHOULD" win everytime.
RX-8 run the 1/4 mile in 1.5-14.7ish wheras the S2000 runs in the 13's if you can drive. I think it's clear who has the edge. But just another car in this class.... The 350z is a different strory, from a roll with an S2000 it's a drivers race.

Auto's have 197hp @ 7200 rpm and 164 ft-lb @ 5000 rpm while the 6-speed has
238 @ 8500 rpm and 159 ft-lb @ 5500 rpm. Curb weight for the RX-8 is 3,029lb while the S2000 is about 2,830lb and the S has roughly the same hp and torque figures as the 6-Speed RX-8. That alone equates to about .2-.3 seconds in the 1/4 mile.

Ummmm...FYI...very few stock S2K's have broken into the 13's with a perfect driver on a perfect track under perfect conditions. The S2K runs mid-to-low 14's and even 15's.
The RX8 runs mid-14's to 15's. What you read in the magazines is not what most people are able to replicate, so figure that you're going not have a perfect driver, perfect conditions and a perfect track. Which means that both cars will be close, unless one is modded, or it was the automatic.
You must have been racing an automatic RX8 if you were pulling a few car lengths on it.
And like I said before, I'm quite a good driver, but obviously, we have a bunch of professionals on here who think they are better than everyone else.
Get real. Some of you have been reading too many magazines. Oh, I forgot. We are on the internet. Everyone is good looking, intelligent and has the fastest car.
