S2K vs. SAABs
There's a thread at SAABnet.com regarding how their SAABs fare against the S2K - I'm not quite sure what to make of it since I don't own an S2K but I figured I'd let you guys know.

Feel free to "contribute" and add feedback to their thread if you guys want.

The above link says the Viggen (the 'fastest' of the Saabs) does 0-60 mph in 6.4 secs and the 1/4 in 15.0 at 95.x... not really even close to a well driven S2000. Unfortunately it seems like many of the S2000's aren't very 'well driven'. The Saab will be easier to drive fast because of the torque and boost but in the hands of a capable driver it would be no comparison. I'm very confident that I could rape a Viggen in an S2000 that's not even broken in all the way. I have had some very poor quarter mile times in my S2000 but NEVER one that started with 15.xx.

There are very few car companies that I will simply not even bother with -- Saab makes that list.
Horrible build quality, front wheel drive cars, generally boring as hell to drive, and all slow as piss.
I have two neighbors with Saabs, one with a recent Viggen. Both have spent numerous days in the repair shop for stupid little issues.

Better be careful if you ever see a black Saab lining up with your car asking for a race. He may actually win. Apparently, they're very mod friendly with a lot of potentials. Reason why we don't see many "fast" saabs is because like Steve C said, they are boring as hell.
I wouldn't be too worried about Saabs, the stories about someone beating up on the S. I'm actually going to call BS on that.

The only reason you don't see Saab mechanics in Bermuda (thanks to all the work they do) is because they're too busy fixing Saabs.
We have a Mazda dealership which also sells Saab and while getting an oil change last week on our Mazda winter beater, my fiance noticed nine Saabs waiting for service work and one Mazda. Up here in the northeast, they sell well with the recently transplanted flatlanders who think owning a Saab or Volvo is #2 on the "to do" list just under buying a ski rack. When they realize how bad the build quality is they trade 'em in on an Audi or VW.

I was at the track and as I entered the straight, there was a Saab in front of me. From 40-100mph (started in 2nd), the distance between us stayed the same (I am a pretty good driver on a roll). Modded Saabs are pretty quick. I just dont like their style, but it is getting better, getting more BMWish.
