Default SC S2K vs 2 Trans Am

Boy this was one one exciting race I had last night. I was driving home from having dinner with my wife because the weather was so nice and I took a little cruise around town with the top down. I exit off the freeway and drove home. As I was just pulling into my driveway, this bluish/green Trans Am pulls up on the street and asked if I wanted to race. I thought for just a few seconds and said sure, you wanna take it on the freeway. The guy in the Trans Am said "sure thing". Now at this point, my wife was giving me the evil look and gave me a really nice smack on my right shoulder Well, my wife gets out of the car and I followed the Trans Am onto the street and head for the freeway entrance. On the small street he was pushing his car to show me how much power he has, chirping his tires and so on.

We get out onto the freeway and I'm now sure how I'm going to do, but we went from a 60MPH roll and I must of put about 8+ car length on him when I left off. Suddenly, this red Trans Am comes really fast from behind me and gets in front of me. The bluish/green Trans Am pulls up to me rolls down his window and tells me that he wants me to race the red Trans Am. At this point, I'm thinking...these guys must be working together out hunting. Getting me to race the slower car then bring out the big gun car. Well, I said sure I'll race the red one. We ran from a 60MPH roll and I let him take off first, but it was not contest as I passed him like he was standing still... I ran about 4 times and I put about 6+ car length on him on every single run before I shut it down. You should have seen the look on his face as I passed on by... He pulls up to me after we get back to regular speed and he was like, what the hell do you have in that thing...it pulls like crazy! I said, I've some some stuff here and there . We all gave each other a and went our seperate ways...except I had a on my face.

I'm not a big domestic person so I'm not sure what year those Trans Ams are, but the red one sounded like it was moded and it had an aftermarket exhaust on. They both had mean sounding barks, but I guess their bite didn't hurt.

We ran from 60MPH to 130MPH. Like I said, I'm not a big domestic person but I thought all Trans Ams were V8??? I don't believe it was a WS6 though. I'm not sure what my car is running on the 1/4 but last year I ran a 13.6 with a slipping SC belt that got shreaded. I don't have a dyno for my car, planning to bring her in for a dyno tune on my VAFC pretty soon here.

Just for reference, I've ran with 2 BPU Supras TT and a C5 on the freeway. One of the Supra, I was able to take, the other one...we were pretty close (2 and 2). As for the C5, not sure if it was stock or modded, but I was able to take the C5 from a roll as well.

From 60-140 in a SC S2K is pretty damn quick for it's setup. I don't do much drag racing from a stop because I still have the stock clutch that will not hold the 6000+RPM clutch drop.

The guys said they were driving Trans Ams and the label and I recall seeing Trans Am stamped on the back of the two cars. Hell, they could have been Domestic Ricers, with dual exhaust, but they sure didn't sound like V6 engines.

I know I can can run faster then 13.6 on the 1/4. The supra that I ran with that we were pretty dead even ran a 12.8@111MPH on the 1/4. After I ran that 13.6 with the slipping belt, I even made it better by running a 33@36MPH because my ECU went into safe-mode...

It was fun because I wasn't out looking for a race...they came hunting for me All in all, it was just good old fun.

It could have been. The WS6 logo is in the lower right on the bumper. Who knows? Finishing off a race that you didn't start is a good feeling

Yes, those are the best...when you win a race you didn't start.

I think S2K is right: Trans Ams come with a 5.7 liter V8 rated at 305 HP. The WS6 has the same basic V8 engine, but the ram air package adds a bit more power. As far as I know, this is true of the '98-'02 Firebird models, but I don't know about earlier ones. Top end speed isn't these cars' forte, so I'd think a SC S2000 would give them a good run on the freeway.

S2K, out of curiosity, is your SC Comptech or Vortech?
