SRT-4 w/stage 1 mopar
Im getting gas tonight at a Chevron at like 1am, when a yellow SRT-4 turns into the gas station peeling out, and dips over to the pumps like a bat out of hell, blowing off like 3 times. He starts pumping and in the middle of this he starts asking me questions about my car, like what I had done. I just said I had I/E and then asked him. He has a 03 w/a mopar stage 1 (larger injectors, and a re-flashed ecu) CAI, and Exhaust. So I was like cool. Im done so I start my car and pull out, and just so happens that the light turned red soon as I pulled onto the road. Well who do you think comes up right beside me...? The light turns green and we both just roll out to about 20 and then we both punch it. He got a small jump and inched, but soon as Tec came in I stoped him from pulling through 1st, I hit 2nd and start inching back, 3rd comes and Im still coming slowly but steadily, high 3rd I take the lead, and 4th I just start going away. I shut it down at about 120 and had about a car or maybe a little less. We slow down and he was impressed...now at like 50 he downshifted and I was like ok once wasen't good enough, but whatever, I downshifted and we both nail it. This time I was in prime range and just started inching right away through 2nd, 3rd, and by mid 4th I had a little more then a car. He slowed down to like 30 and I just kept on driving. Another neon bites the dust!!
A Mopar Stage 1 MY03 SRT is pretty much a MY04 without LSD.
A bone stock S2000 would have a much harder time beating one (or would be a stalemate). Since I've got my AEM V2 (my only mod besides the MY02 ECU that does anything for power), I was able to pull away like how it was explained, albeit slow but a win none the less. My friend with his '03 S1 SRT4 was stunned at the result, and we did it a couple more times from a roll, same result every time.
Not bad for all motor goodness from a smaller motor and zero boost. I still don't think too highly of the SRT4's engine in it's (near) stock trim. Modded is a very different story though.
