Default Stinking trucks

I was on my way home tonight when I pulled up next to a new 1500 ram quad cab at a light. I recognized the guy, as he has tried to race me before and I just let him go, so I knew he would like try again, and figured I would let him see how he did not stack up . Not wanting to look like a fool and have him do nothing as I took off, I let him get the jump. He got on it and once I knew he was in it, I followed suit. By that time he had about 3/4 of a car on me, but I figured I would cover that pretty quick. To my suprise I could not get past him until 65-70mph, WTF . I was starting to pull pretty good by the time I shifted to 4th, but seeing what was in store he got out of it with me about a car ahead. All and all I walked away disapointed in the outcome, I really figured I would have walked him with no problem .

I looked up the 1/4 mile on those things and they are listed at 15.6, either that number is way off, he was modded, or my car is f%*cked up (I just had it dynoed at 210whp though). I did have the top down, but I would not think that would make a big difference until higher speeds.

You're not gonna pull bust lengths on 15 second cars especially after you give them the jump. They trap in the 94MPH range which is surprisingly faster than a Auto IS300.

Really everything I found said less than 90mph, but like I said the truck seemed faster than the quoated 15.6?

Oh wait I was looking at the wrong numbers your right. So it's basically as fast as an IS300 down low but I'm pretty sure it will pull on one slightly from a roll. 5700LBS and horrible gearing don't help it off the line.

I just realized that we are discussing a race between a truck so I'm gonna stop now.

the 2009 ram hemi had an upgrade from 345 horsepower to 390 horsepower.

I see 15.6 for the 1/4 mile for it. But you can't expect your car to outrun it as soon as you start putting on the gas when he had the jump out the hole. Think of it this way: that is the time that you aren't in vtec and he pretty much has a powerband all the way through.

Also a truck of note, most nissan titans run 9.0-10.0 1/8th miles. A few guys break into the 8.xx's in the 1/8th which is faster than most s2000's.

These new trucks don't eff around off the line up to 60 anymore.

Weight hurts these new trucks, but they have relatively high torque numbers and aggressive gear ratios. I think my Tundra had 4.30s for gear ratios.
