So I was on the freeway the other day and pulled up next to a kid in a Cobalt SS, Im guessing it was the s/c model considering how things went.

My bottle was empty, so it was just full bolt ons, no tune and 4.77s for me vs what looked like a stock SS

First "race" I kept it in 6th, and was waiting for him to downshift to see if he wanted to play, all a sudden he downshifts and immediately takes off, I didn't even hit the gas

Next run we line up around 80mph, Im blipping the throttle in 5th just inside vtec, probably could have gone to 4th but Im lazy. We take off about the same time and I pull pretty hard on him, a good 3+ cars up to about a bill 20.

Last Chance, I decided to give him a chance to redeem himself and slowed down to about 55-60 and popped it in 3rd, blipped the throttle a couple of times and waited for him to get the jump. He takes off, I slam on the gas and start to reel him in HARD, and naturally I MISS 4th gear, but Im a trooper so I kept with it, he went from being at my rear bumper to me being at his rear bumper bc of my botched shift, but by the end of 4th I had already reeled him in AGAIN and was pulling away. 5th gear, kept pulling, he was quite a ways behind.

Not sure of the powerband of that car or if its that hard to drive fast like an s2k (lol) but I was definitely pleased with the results. I always thought it would be pretty close considering his FWD is probably putting down similar whp and hes got the extra torque.

Also embarrassed a Charger with those stupid fake carbon diamond fender Autozone emblem things. It had stock dual exhaust but wasnt the SRT. He also had those big black truck wheels that they like to slap on there. He kept lining up with me at about 80mph wanting to go so I finally gave in, I just kept it in 6th and let him take off about 3 cars ahead, then I punched it, reeled him in hard and passed him at 115. He was definitely still going bc when I passed him he was probably going 110ish.

 

Nice. The Cobalt could have been a drivers race with you being the better driver. I like to think the S has the advantage but that could just be bias!

To each their own on how they do their cars, but I really don't know what some people are thinking with how they 'mod' their car!

 

Great kills, my luck finding a T/C SS has been horrible, all I find are the SC ones, good job

 

Was the Charger a V6 or was it the 8? Good Kills either way.

 

Doing some quick research looks like the only V8 versions were the RT and SRT and it wasn't one of those, plus considering how badly it got beat it was definitely the v6. Not very impressive but was still fun lol

 

Nice kills, I have ran a modded SS and he kept up with me pretty well. he still lost, but not by much.

Those Chargers are pigs, Pretty sure you would be able to take an R/T up to a certain point. The SRT8 not so much without the bottle lol, I can barely put a few cars on them.

 

What are you running Drk? I wanna say S/C in the 300s range?
