Vette Z06 - S2K
So,
Its possible not all 'sports' car drivers are as nice as yesterday's Modena driver. Today I got onto the freeway (520 east bound). Latest vette moved over to let me in. I followed him. Lots of traffic today, so it was pretty much just being a lemming. Finally when the freeway widened the Vette took of and the chase was on. I think it annoyed him that I could keep up in the distances we had.
Finally we had a LONG stretch without cars and he floored it (I'm thinking automatic because I didn't see the car change its attutide as it accelerated, but it did give off puffs of smoke three times durring acceleration) as I expected he might. This time is was a lot harder to keep up, I think he maybe gained a car length on me, as you might expect.
Well finally we slowed down (not sure how fast we were going, I was paying attention to the road) and he had to move over to get off the freeway. Well guess who wouldn't even look over. Ooopsy guess someone was endowment challened and didn't like a japanese four banger keepin' up with his American 8. Oh well. It was still fun.
Does anyone know if we're supposed to be able to beat a vette at highway speeds or am I just a lame accelerator?

I think that the only Vette we would beat would be the automatic convertible. He would still be able to reach a higher top speed though.
A Z06 would kill any S2000 barely trying. They only come in stick. The easy way to tell is if it had little side vents ahead of the rear tires or mesh in the front vents. They also only come in hardtop, not convertible or coupe/hatchback.
It seems to me if the guy had a stick he was probably the lame accelerator.

A Z06 only comes with the M12 6-speed manual transmission. If a guy has an auto and says it's a Z06, he's lying.
About your race, you will not beat a C5 on the highway. Even a non-peformance gear, automatic, convertible C5 will still run a 13.6 or so at 103mph which is a bit quicker than most stock S2k. A Z06 would kill a S2k.

My bad.
I just went the the Chevy site and did some looking. It was the new model but not the Z06, just the coupe. Defintely an automatic, a stick doesn't have the acceleration pattern, as in nearly zero body movment. And I didn't win, I just didn't get creamed. He was pulling away, just not quickly.
But you guys are right NOT a Z06, I didn't know they came in different models, shows you I don't pay much attention.
It was however the new body style with the square rear and the oval tail lights.
That make more sense?
