That's a very interesting comment.

What about the Z06 engine makes it more fun? I take it that these comments were made by the guys that switched froma 996TT to a Z06, right?

Well, the guy on the Z06 vette forum said the engine makes all the difference. He said while the 911 turbo engine is amazing, the fact that the 2002 Z06 is naturally aspirated making 405 HP makes it better. The sound and response he said are both better. The list of cars he has owned are impressive...911 turbo, new M3, TT RX7, TT supra, S2000 . here is a link to his post
http://www.z06vette.com/forums/showthread....highlight=S2000

Also, I have seen a great review from a guy (a very good reviewer i have talked to at lenght on automobileforum.com) who picked the S2k as his most fun car to drive ever...until he drove a Z06...then he said he was torn. The way he put it...the S2k is a great car for tooling around with the top down...and the Z06 was the car he would pick for balls out performance..hands down.

Thanks for the link.

I can't seem to find the part where he says "that the 2002 Z06 is naturally aspirated making 405 HP makes it better. The sound and response he said are both better"

always_laughing,
I did not mean to imply that I thought a Z06 would walk a 911 T on the straight. All that I meant was, as capable a handling car as the Z06 is, I think its strong point is still straight line acceleration. I think the Porsche is a much more well rounded car.

Elanderholm,
Yes, I'm positive I drove a Z06. I'm not positive, however, that it had run flats, I took the salesmans word for that and we know how reliable car salesman are. 2001 is definitely the last year for the S2000... right? It's a very enticing automobile to a someone as performance oriented as I am I just can't get past the 'GM' feel it has. Poor interior, poor shifting mechanism and so on. I would much rather buy a 97ish NSX, spend some money on a few choice mods and have a dependable, daily driven car that had alot more attention to quality and detail.

Hmmm...thanks for the email explanation.

I don't do auto-x. I find it to be boring.

I don't know where you got the idea that I don't respect the Z06. As I have noted before, they are nice cars. I have first hand experience in driving with them on a few tracks.

driving with them?? what were you driving? I just used auto-x as an example to show that even on the twistiest courses they can hold their own.
