i would say go to honda-tech.com bc this is a s2000 site, not a civic site, but it just so happens my friend had an 03 civic EX 5 speed. i can tell you from experience that there is no vtec surge whatsoever. but techinically, its around 4800...but all itll do is make a better sound. a civic ex is going to be pretty much the same throughout the entire powerband and after 1st gear its a sloth on wheels

You hear a sound but you don't feel a push at all, Heck you can even lean forward... while driving up a steep hill

to all who posted useful info, thanks. This is my commuter car, I have a MY01 s2000 which is why I posted on this site, why would I bother signing up to another web-site just to ask that question?. So I never said the civic was supposed to be fast I was just curious about vtec because like many of you said you can barely feel the vtec and I just wanted to make sure there wasn't anything wrong which I guess there isn't because it feels just how you guys described it. I'm used to driving my S2000 which the vtec is noticeable in sound and pull.
