When I was living in Texas (years ago) a guy from a small town around Austin woke up in the middle of the night because he heard something outside. He looked thru his bedroom window and say a guy breaking into his car. He was about 100 feet away from his car. He opened his window, gave no warning, shot and killed the guy. He was cleared because Texas law says it's okay to use deadly force to protect your property, whether or not you are in danger.
The flip side of that case was one in a small town near Waco where a man shot and killed a 17 year old kid in his living room (kid had broken in through a window in the middle of the night). The guy actually got convicted because he shot the kid in the back. I couldn't figure that one out for the life of me. I guess the jury felt sorry for the kid...
I think the bottom line is that killing someone for a property crime is seen by most people as literal overkill. Your shit isn't worth a person's life. If the police had apprehended the suspect and he had been convicted, he would have spent some time in jail at the worst, not faced a firing squad.
Depending on circumstances, generally when a person has their back to you, they are not threatening your life. It is hard to argue that you were in fear for your life when a person is running away. And I think most people feel that unless you are shooting to save your life or the life of someone else, it is out of line. If you kill the person, you are typically treated the same as someone who shoots a person in an argument outside a bar. The fact that they are on your property is simply a petty trespassing charge, not grounds for execution.
As far as carrying a gun for "protection." As Ruprecht mentioned, once you bring a gun into the situation, you have escalated the threat to a point where all parties risk death rather than embarassment or injury. I'd rather bring a baseball bat to a knife fight than a gun, because I'd stand a better chance of getting out of there alive.

might as well rob the assholes, right. Then you get an armed robbery beef. Like my fellow Floridians are saying most full carry permits in FL are in the hands of mature, competant, trained men and women who when threatened know exactly how to respond..with the law on your side. Taking the boneheads wallet makes you a thief bro.
give me a break lol..."officer, there i was minding my own business chasing someone in traffic threatening them...and so i get outta my truck w/ a bat and the meanie decides to pull a gun and rob me....pls help."

PS it was just a joke saying to rob them. if this happened to me i would've done the same thing; just wouldve controlled the sit better.

Google is your enemy.

I leaned toward more that it was fake than real. Now I have proof.
There were too many holes, in the acting/behavior of the two parties.
It did seem real. It just seemed more fake.

Yea I thought it was either fake or the guy was dumb. Who steals a camera and then posts the video on the internet without at least blurring out their own face :|
