Default $30,669!! Just took delivery and ....

Today I decided to go to Maroone Honda to check up on my order of my 2001 Silverstone S2000. They informed me that unforunately they were not sure when or if they will get anymore 2001's in Silverstone. They could not locate one within the South Florida area so there's goes the dealer trade option.

Anyway, they had 3 blacks and 1 yellow. After I started bitching a little, I spoke to the GM and others. I expressed interest for the Yellow... After some wheeling and dealing and some more bitching, I got a brand new 2001 Spa Yellow Pearl for only... $30,669. WOW!!!!

I guess they went so low, due to my complaints and I am a prior customer of theirs in the past (purchased 3 previous cars from them).

So, they prepared the car, and I just took delivery of my new car, FINALLY! And it is SWEET!!!!

I just want to thank everyone in the forum for being so friendly and informative. Going through here daily since last month, I've learned a great deal about this car, its advantages and pitfalls. Even though I haven't posted too much, reading some of the stuff is great.

And a big thanks for Maroone Honda for working with me and putting this deal together!!!

Wow! That's a damn good price!
What's the VIN # on yours? Just curious where it's at now.

Way to go! My dealer (not where I ultimately got the car) wouldn't discuss anything but several thousand over list even though I had bought at least eight Hondas there and even worked there for a year. Come to think of it, maybe the working there for a year is what did me in!

WOW, that's a fantastic deal! In fact, I'd like to hear if anyone has paid less than $30,669? I'm paying MSRP. Car was ordered 4/27, expecting VIN any day. It "should" arrive sometime in July. That's what I'm being told anyway. I do know for a fact that there was a "move" on 4/27. Congrats & welcome! You won't find a more warm, enthusiastic, informed group of S2000 owners!

My wife and I bought our 2000 when the cars first came out. While we were able to find a dealer that sold the car at MSRP, we were obliged to purchase a lot of options. Fortunately they were mostly options we wanted. Unfortunately, they raped us on the cost of the options.

Last week I went to several dealers here in the LA/Pasadena, CA. area and saw, in each case three S2000s on three different show room floors. One dealer was still clinging to the notion that he could tack a premium on the car. The other two had them at MSRP and acted like dealing was a feasible option. My guess is that with the larger inventory there will be opportunities to haggle the price down.

It makes me want to go back and buy a second one so that I can try to get the average unit cost down. I just don't know if I can justify having two roadsters in the family.

For those in the market now, you have a much better shot at a good deal than we who dove in early.

Congratulations on the new car! Hope to see you at some of the local events.

My how things have changed ...
When I visited Maroone in December 1999 they were not nearly as obliging. One of the salesman would not let me test drive a car until I purchased one - with full assurance of a refund if I was not happy . Then, when I offered MSRP on one of the three cars they had sitting in the showroom, the salesman smiled and said the owner wouldn't allow them to be sold for less than $5k over MSRP and to come back when I was a "serious buyer". So I left and returned the following week with the car I purchased in Coral Springs .

WOW 24 hours later and I'm still amazed and kinda in shock that it's mine, all mine!! My VIN is #5143.

CoralDoc, that's strange that they treated you this way... guess things have definitely changed. Definitely avoid Braman Honda, when I walked in (ready to buy) they quoted me $42K as their best offer!!! No wonder they have some many S2000's on the lot compared to Maroone.
