I've had my S2000 for about two months now, and my insurance keeps going up. Started at around $2,000, then to $4,000, now to $6,700.00 a year. This is crazy. I just turned 23, and have a few tickets and accidents. Anyone know a better place to go rather then Progressive? It would be one thing if that is all I drive, but it's my second car. I hardly drive it. Any help would be greatly appretiated.

Change insurance companies man. I'm 24...had mucho tickets in the past...and I pay $820 for 6 months (full coverage).

Give Nation Wide auto insurance a call man. My Geico started going up...and I said c-ya.

How could you insurance go up 3 times in 2 months? Even if you had an accident and tickets it would take months to go up. Something is fishy here......

Until you turn 25 you should insure the car under your parent's name. Or if you live in a state where they don't require an auto insurance, why not just forgo it. $6,700 you save a year should cover most accident costs.

Even with a different insurance companies, I doubt you will see any drastic savings.

Dude, that's HIGH! Give Nationwide Insurance a call. I pay $530/6 months through them for the S2K, no accidents or tickets

That is outrageous, but where do you live? Just heard on the radio that the state of NY on the 15th of April is going to get 18% hikes to take the #1 position from NJ in highest car insurance costs in the country. A day to celebrate in NJ!!

I know I didn't just see a suggestion that someone forgo insurance if the law doesn't require it, especially for someone with tickets and accidents on his record.

If that guy hit me and I had to fork out, I'd sue his ass since I couldn't legally kick it (nothing personal to Brian).

That's got to be the worst "advice" I've ever read.

I'm 23 with no tickets, no accidents and I still have to pay about $3500 CDN per year then another $2000 per year for my other car. It's sick and unfair... but insurance companies are part of life.

That's NOT good advice. Try to cheat the insurance company and they find out... you will have no coverage, maybe a fraud prosecution and owe $$$$$$$$$ to fix your car, med bills etc. I'm also SURE your lien holder on the S2K REQUIRES full coverage. If they found out they would take your car and sue you for the difference between the very low price they sold it for and what you owe.

ps: If there is any med bills $6700 goes so fast you wouldn't believe it.

Progressive?? Sounds like they progressively raised your rates Had to say that...I've been with Nationwide for several years. Out of the blue last month they raised my insurance rates $500 a year!!! They said that this was just a standard rate increase across the board. I am now going with Farmer's Insurance with the same full coverage and I am paying less for both a 99 Toyota Tacoma 4x4 extra cab and my Stook then I was paying alone for my Tacoma. Insurance companies are legal rapists!!!! However, you gotta pay to play. Shop around but whatever you do get rid of Progressive. They are not a major player and usually cater to people with very bad records.
