Ouch!. I feel sorry for you people in the states!..that is totally insane..i'm 23 and only pay 1894 for 12 months fully insured..that's Canadian dollars too!..I guess that's one good thing with having the government running our insurance company here in british columbia..we don't have those private companies selling car insurace ..only ICBC (Insurance Corporation of British Columbia) ...

bguernsey: I dont know anything about the company you mention, and I live in Paris...what I can tell you it that I did lots of shopping around before getting insured on my S2000, and the best deal I could find was 10000FF per year, fully comprehensive.(im afraid you'll have to do your own conversion here). I only use the car at weekends, and it is kept in a security guard patrolled underground car park directly opposite a police station! I dont know how that compares with US prices, but I thought it was damn expensive!
(im 28, with no accidents, no tickets, and have held a driving license for 11 years, and owned cars and have an insurance record for the last 7 years)

Thats a rediculous amount to pay for insurance.

Im 23, male, live in the SF bay area, have State Farm and pay $1200/year on the S2000. I paid $900/year on a 93 Miata previously. Ive been with state farm since I got my license, and still have my good student discount from college (stays in effect until I turn 25 or get married, whichever comes first -- both of which result in a discount anyway). Ive got $0 deductible on comprehensive and $500 on collision.

Get a new carrier.

NO KIDDING ---- I've got a neighbor who is legally blind, still drives, and doesn't pay anywhere near that. This guy can't see the handle on a refrig. Sounds like they got your #.

If you're the man with the expert info, you're the man!

I would rather post conservative common sense that can't lead to serious problems than some of our more liberal posters who sometimes post before thinking it out and it can lead to some bad things (go w/out ins. ie.

I would like to ask a serious hypothetical question and get expert opinion from some of the lawyers on the post.

"A" is an independent man, just getting started in business life, 23 1 accident, 4-5 tickets who does get his dad "B" an older successful man to put his name on the title (co-owner) and insurance. Because of the cost "A" who is in reality the primary driver only carries the minimum liability (here in MI I believe it's 25K). "A" runs a red light and kills an attorney (high income guy) and quads the attorney's 12yr old child (long life expectancy). After the lawyers get through with "A" is "B" a viable target? If so if awards exceed his ("B"s) umbrella is he personally at risk?

Ive got a really good deal from state farm also. Im over 25 but prior to that I was not paying that much anyway. They quoted me 75$ per month full coverage for the stook. You might want to check them out.
