I’ve been going back and forth on what to do with my hardtop. I was just going to wrap its black but the silver is growing on me. I got a lot of compliments at Daytona last week.
the main reason I put the top on is because it’s too hot in the summer. Heat index was 107 yesterday. I think the silver pair helps to reflect a lot of sunlight.
think I’ll wait until the winter to decide. If the black wrap is noticeable hotter, I’ll just peal it off. Need to put my tow cap back on
This is really just a "taste" item or the lack of it. I mean there are some guys who can actually drink light beer rather than IPA or Scotch!
An interesting compromise would be Yellow although finding a wrap in matching Spa Yellow Pearl (SYP Y-52P) will be a challenge but a good body shop can match the paint. (Indy Yellow Pearl is different.) I get a lot more exercise this time of year as we compete for shaded parking places that are often a good walking distance from where I want to be. I can feel the heat baking thru the black fabric roof of the S2000. Only remote start allows me to use my black Expedition this week.

Pretty sure Spa also has a tinted clearcoat as well, not an easy color to match. I'd either paint or wrap the top black since it's a mugen replica. If it were oem I'd match it to the car.
Spa has a base coat and top coat and then of course clear. Due to that and the pearl in it, it can be hard to match it perfectly. I have used the spray versions from Automotivetouchup and they work well but if you do not get each coat just right it will never match the stuff around it. If what you have does not come like that and is a 1 part paint I would think it will not match at all.
I also learned from a couple of people that the Spa Yellow you buy today will not be exactly like the original as something had to change in formulation so there is that too. But in general paint with metal flake or pearl can be hard to get perfect.
I will eventually get a hard top but only for track use where top is always up anyways. Top is down for autox, even in the rain I will drop it right before I pull up to the line and raise it back in the finish chute on the way back to grid if raining. And for street use, I never have the top up anyways. If I am street driving it then it is a top down day.
For the color I would go black. Either painted or a wrap. Better to have a nice looking contrast color than a color that almost matches but not quite. Kinda like trying to find a black shirt to match black pants
I have the 2 stage paint but I was keeping this to respect the front bumper. (Once I stop hitting cones) I’m leaning on the wrap. I agree with you guys, if it was oem, paint match and strip the vinyl around the windshield.
All depends on what your intentions are for this car. Primary race car? No need to repaint the roof any color or just rattle can it. Pleasure use -- and a bit of show off? Matching yellow roof on this car will be stunning and a lot of show-off as it will be almost unique! But at the end of the day it's fluff not function (as if the S2000 isn't already fluff).
