Default 0-60 times?

I was wondering how much lower a modded S2000's 0-60 time is than stock. How much lower is it with the various gears? How about with a SC? I know the S2K is not meant for drag racing so that is why I am more interested in 0-60 times since it has more to do with everyday driving around town (even though you usually don't get to 60).

Whoops. I haven't been on here in a while. I think I'm forgetting where everything goes.

No problem. Your topic is kinda borderline anyway. I hope you get some responses here. If not, PM ItalianBucwheat. He's done G-Tech runs stock, 4.44, 4.77 and there may have been posts in that thread from F.I. guys too.

Your right in saying that this car is not a drag racer, however, whether you let off at 60 mph or 100 mph, to get a time as printed in the magazines (0-60 in 5.4s) you'll need to abuse the car by dropping the clutch at 7,000-8,000 RPM depending on the road surface.

Hey, it's your car if you want to mod it and break it that's up to you. I've not seen anyone post a bettery 0-60 time than what's shown in the magazine even with a S/C or a turbo, this is NOT a car that likes to drag race. If that's what you want a Mustang will do the job far better.

Okayyy. I hate stangs. So I guess a SC doesn't help much except for drag racing and for tracks with long straightaways.

How much does gears help when just driving around town without dropping the clutch?

Man, are people still thinking that we're abusing the car by side-stepping the clutch at high rpm? Nothing could be farther from the truth.

Honda claims 0-60 in under 6 seconds, and news flash, to do that you have to be at peak power during launch. 2nd news flash, peak power is pretty high in the rev-range, and requires certain techniques to pinpoint it at launch. Do this and you have a chance of getting the car to 60 in under 6 seconds, do it not and it just won't happen.

Now, if Honda had said the car had a 0-60 in 10 seconds my response would be different, and if Honda condones it, in fact touts it, such treatment cannot be said to be abuse.

In answer to your question SK, very little will make the car get to 60 any faster, but your best bet is lower gears and stickier tires, not turbos and superchargers.

Oh yeah, practice makes perfect .

Thanks for the help. I didn't actually mean a fater 0-60 technically. I know with lower gears there may be an extra shift involved which would make it slower. But it does get to 55 or whatever speed faster, and that is what matters. It will be faster say, accelerating from a stop light than the stock geared cars. And I'm talking about fast acceleration without dropping the clutch, so R-compounds wouldn't help too much. I guess gears are the only thing that help.

I once did a 0-60 and I think it took me about 3 seconds or less. But I think my speedometer was set to kph.
