That came accross wrong - and it seems like you have have had a lot of really cool cars - I just think, like you said, the S2000 is one of the greatest driving cars out there and I couldn't imagine anyone not wanting to drive them - too much fun!

Another question now relating to the older cars - is it hard to adjust driving style/expectations when switching up newer cars/older cars (like a Europa or Ferrari 308) - and also, how'd you like the Beck? I LOVE and would like to have one someday... helmet, goggles, driving gloves n all...

This is a rhetorical question, but ... Is that a good thing, or a bad thing?

me like stink on poop. For a very long time anyone who dare say that the AP1's were more raw was seen as starting an AP1/AP2 debate, but today, four years later, everyone seems to realize that the early cars really were more raw. Most AP2 owners were real jerks back then, because for some strange reason they wanted their cars to be as raw as the AP1.

Thankfully, over time we've had more and more people, like you, who have upgraded from an AP1 to an AP2, so now at least I can state my affection for the rawness of the early cars without every AP2 owner here going off on me.
Thanks.

Depends on the person and the roads they drive on. The AP1 was more raw to me also. The road noise and the ride reminded me of my kart. That was a negative point for me not a positive point! Bad enough that S2k's were off my shopping list. The wife hated it too.

If there is someone with a new (unrippled) track and good ear plugs, I can see them prefering the AP1.

What i want to know is how could you only put 26k on your car in 9 years? I put that on my car in a year. I notice with these car people dont drive them at all or they are like me and wont get out of them. I could never own a car like this and not drive it. I have 81k on my 04
I'm guessing you live in a suburb?

I live downtown Atlanta and put 150 miles on my car at MOST in a week. I drove it only 3500 miles in all of 2007 and it's my daily. I'm at 73000 miles on an 00.

You did see the part where he said the old car was more raw? Maybe that many miles was all he could stand

My exhaust is so loud that you can't listen to music too well in my car, much less have a conversation. The suspension is stiff and I have Bride seats that do not recline and have side bolsters so high that you can't move at all in the seat.

It's my daily driver, my only car, and I love every minute of it. I consider a car a form of enjoyment and not a method of sole transportation (I use public transportation often).

I can definilty see the 00 being more raw than the CR. It makes sense. Even the 00 has stiffer rear springs than the CR and harder more narrow tires, thus introducing more oversteer.

I wonder how much of a difference the width of the tires and stagger differences come into play with how the car feels in "rawness" factor.

The CR would have something like 2.5" stagger. Making it much more planted and along with the aero + tires it must have badass grip in the corners.

Where as the 00 would have 1.4" stagger. Stiffer rear springs, lack of areo etc etc which would introduce more oversteer and that ever so awesome rawness fun factor around corners. Which is great, but introduces a more difficult challege for the driver to maintain higher conering speeds. Not to mention the twitchiness (ie bumpsteer)

Quite honestly it was that exact cornering feel of the ap1 which convinced me immediatly that i wanted an s2000. It was the improved interior and power of the ap2 which sealed the deal. If the CR was available when i first bought an S2000 i would have gone with that instead of the standard ap2 as an excellent compromise between raw and nice.

The biggest thing I think that adds to the debate is the exact word, raw. Having owned both, I'd say the AP1 is "Harsher". I consider both the AP1/AP2 to be pretty raw sports cars. Point blank, the AP2 is faster and easier to drive. That's all there is to it. It has more HP, more tire, more modern suspension, better gearing etc. I had an AP1 for about 1.5 years, then an AP2 for 2.5 years, the switch was easily noticeable the first back road I took, the AP2 just planted mid turn much better and I was able to power out sooner and it was stronger. That said, I'm scraping money right now for a CR, if I can make it happen, I'm sure I'll be very very happy with the car.

AP3 ftmfw!

it should be FI s2000 vs the rest.

the AP1 vs AP2 is very petty.
