Ok. Thank you. I'll keep that in mind.

The glass window is a big plus, as long as the rest of the top is in good shape.

I have 02 and I had a similar decision to make a few months ago. I prefer the ap1 cars. But I guess many folks prefer the ap2. Honestly I don't think its a heck of a lot of difference. The glass window is the main reason I went 02 instead of 01. Also I found a gorgeous extremely low mileage 02 with a hard top and I couldn't resist. I bought it on the spot for fear I might lose the sale. I also prefer the look of the leather trim around the tunnel in the 02. I did upgrade the stereo head unit to a blue tooth equipped Alpine - I saved the original head unit for resale. I also installed ap2 v3 wheels and Bridgestone Potenza S-04 pole position tires which has made a big difference in handling but I suspect it is mostly just new rubber v. 14 year old worn out rubber. I'm saving the original wheels and tires for resale. Other than that it is 100% stock. This car is a dream right now. I'm in love with it. I live in Vermont and we have limitless winding road and mountain road driving right out my door. Maybe I should be worried about oversteer but I'm not. I don't drive it quite hard enough to be in danger of losing the rear end in corners. I suppose its good to be aware of the issue - I never drive it except in dry conditions but yes if I find myself in the rain or on wet or sandy roads I will back off a bit. I hope my winter driving skills honed over 35 years of winter driving in Vermont will hold me in good stead. I have certainly lost the rear end in the snow in other vehicles many many times and you get pretty good at counter steering and other recovery actions. I would like to find a place to practice on the dry - but honestly it seems pretty hard to push it enough to lose the rear end on a good dry country road. I've tried but the thing grips like no tomorrow. I can't even get a squeal out of it. I drive it pretty hard sometimes but I suspect I am more conservative than some.

This car is an absolute gem.

Thank you for the reply. I also prefer the AP1 cars. I'm guessing I'll drive similar to how you described. I won't push my luck with it.

Let us know what you end up with. I do agree with the post about needing to learn to drive the car, but not for the same reasons. Its not so much the over steer issue which I honestly think has been overstated. For me it took a while to get comfortable driving with the rpms up high enough. If i am driving a winding road I'm keeping it at about 4K minimum for the cruise and I accelerate from there up through 7 or 8 generally. Once I let that settle in the car really smoothed out and it has tons of torque and power and it sticks like glue to the road on winding roads. I'm getting to the point now where the car fits me like a glove and very little conscious thought is going into my driving, rev matching and braking is very intuitive. I'm so lucky to be able to have one of these great cars to drive. I'm actually considering buying another one to put in moth balls. Could result in a divorce. Maybe I can sell the idea as a retirement investment? Might do better than the stock market with little risk, eh?

This certainly does not happen to most 00-01's.
OP, if this is your only concern, try dropping the top and see if the window folds as expected. Secondly, after 16 years the top may need to be replaced soon anyway. A lot of people replace them with one that has a glass rear window.

Thanks. It's not my only concern. I do prefer the glass, but I'm looking at two 01s also. So, it's not a deal breaker.

Besides the plastic window isn't there also the ECU issue? Those are the two major things that have me leaning towards an AP1v2 instead, along with the other small changes like the banjo bolts, A/C boost, and interior practicality improvements and nicer trim bits.

The owner of the 02 I'm considering taking it to a body shop for me. I told him I'd pay for the estimate if it's not free.
