Try searching under "clutch Buzz"

Not sure I would call it a serious issue since a number of people just live with it till the clutch needs to be replaced. There are other reasons one might opt for a 02+ but the tranny alone wouldn't be my only concern.

Every model of car has it's quirks You haven't mentioned anything about the particular car to be purchased. Miles? Service records? Test drive impressions? Overall condition? Is the plastic window vs glass an issue? Is it fitted with the correct tires? Has it been modded? etc etc..

Since you are in Florida there are a number of fellow owners who might be able to take a look at it with you. Or they may know the particular car you are buying.

All in all I can't think of any "major" issues that a particular model year had. You can also look under "TSB" to see the technical service bullitins for the s2k.

Good luck and enjoy the car!

Not sure about the '01 models, but some '00 trannies had the infamous second gear grind. Basically, if the tranny was hot (normal use) and you shifted from 1st to 2nd the tranny had a tendency to grind. Particularly when the shift was done with higher revs. Honda issued a service bulletin months after owners started complaining. When I dropped off my S2K for the service the dealer changed the 2nd gear gear-set, clutch, and pressure plate. Took care of the problem.

The clutch buzz is a neusance, but mechanically is okay. I don't like that about my car. Still, I believe the problem persists with the weaker springs in the stock setup.

I am leaning towards the ACT package. Just need to make sure the return springs are aftermarket. They are the culprit for the buzzing noise, as I have been told.

.......another issue is the 2nd gear grind. Depending on conditions (cold v. warmed up - revving it to a quick shift), shifting from 1st to 2nd gear can give you a BEASTLY gear grind - even if you have the clutch pedal mashed to the floor. Unfortunately, Honda has yet to truely remedy the issue. Even the revised '04 will do this. Your fine just as long as you warm it up. Sometimes it still occurs when it is warm, but that is rare.

Good luck in your search,
Hockey
