Default '01 s2k - clutch deceleration buzz question

Picked up an '01 s2k yesterday, and it seems to be exhibiting the "clutch deceleration buzz" issue. I bought the car as a certified pre-owned from a Honda dealer with a 1 yr/12k mile bumber to bumper warranty and 100k powertrain warranty. I know there's a TSB for this, but I'm wondering if it's covered under CPO warranty or just under the original factory warranty. Anyone know? Tried a search but unfortunately it's down.

Also, I've noticed that when I'm driving straight, my steering wheel will be turned slightly to the right. I haven't seen any mention of this issue online, is it a known problem? Any insight here?

Thanks in advance for any help.

I don't know the details of covering the clutch buzz, but it will only return anyway.

And for the steering, get an alignment.

Thanks fellas, dealer is taking a look tomorrow.

I was under the impression that the clutch disc installed in TSB 54 was a different part then '01 stock and thus the problem shouldn't come back...is this incorrect?

I also have the clutch buzz issue. Hopefully dealer will fix it under warranty. As far as the steering, its either the alignment, or one of your tires might be under inflated. Check your tire pressures. I noticed the same thing on my car and I found out that one of my rear tires was very low in pressure. Since the s2000 is a very light car, its very sensitive when it comes to tires. You can feel even the slightest change.

Thanks, just heard from the dealer that an alignment fixed the steering wheel problem, and they've ordered the parts to fix the clutch deceleration buzz. I had also noticed excessive wind noise with the top up, and they've ordered parts to fix that as well. Still interested to hear if the replacement clutch fixes the deceleration buzz permanently or if it'll eventually return.

from what i heard so far, unless you replace the master cylinder (spring?) and clutch with 04+ parts the noise will return... i decided to live with it since i don't have warrenty (bought it used).

i hear a lot of cars with strong clutch "grip" have this noise problem... one example i heard was a corvette.

as for the wind noise... what do you mean by excessive? convertables are usually noiser... and tops should be always down hahaha.. so i live with it as well haha j/k

Whether or not it returns, take comfort in the fact that you're getting a brand new clutch installed for free.

^ True enough. Very impressed with my Honda dealer so far. Took my car in the day after I alerted them of the problem, and gave me absolutely no hassles about replacing the clutch.

r_master78 - the problem I had was that it almost sounded like the top wasn't closed tightly where it met the windshield. TSB 01-037 covers this, it just involves replacing the "convertible top strikers."

had my clutch disc replaced for free the week after I bought the car. Solved the problem and it has been over 12,000 miles. Don't think it will return. I have driven the car hard.
