Question 03 s2000 stock struts, how they differ from ap2?

Just curious if anyone knows if the AP1 and AP2 struts are interchangeable? I had a mishap with a curb and am replacing the oem strut. I pulled a strut from an 06 s2000 at a junk yard, but it wont quite fit right, it pushes against the sway bar. I might also be installing it improperly, because i changed the lower, upper, and straight bars as well, is there a procedure to follow with the strut installation, or am I simply using the wrong part? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

i am not sure if there is a difference between the two, but did you try turning the struct 180 degrees?

I would at least change them as a pair if not a set. The external resevoir on the rear pair faces to the back of the car. I think they might be slightly different in terms of bound/rebound but fitment should be the same. I put up AP1 shocks and springs on an AP2 Subframe and control arms. Not that they actually go on the subframe but anyway
