Just replace that piece. You can buy the pice you cut into from a 2006. It won't match the silver but at least it won't be a hack job.

 

no see the 04-05 piece is silver like it came with. the 06+ is black but also has the defrost switch built into it. if i get the 06 switch then i want to be able to wire up my 01 defrost harnes to it.

 

You can, The switch isn't the same, but the connectors are. The part I'm talking about does not come with the switch, and yes - I already mentioned it wouldn't match your silver.

 

the connectors on my defroster switch is not the same as the 06+ defroster switch. as for the peice i need to replace, the 06+ has a hole in it for the defrost button. the 04-05 piece is silver and the 06+ is satin black.

 

Damn you and your attempts to sell me really inexpensive parts!

PM me a pic of it and how much you want. If the price is right, you can just ship both the console and glovebox at once and hopefully save on a little shipping if you have a big enough box.

EDIT: For the sake of getting back on track, didn't certain years of S2000 have the rear window defroster button right behind the windshield wiper stalk? Mine had a blank for the switch there, but I put a fog light switch there instead.

 

I have an 01 with defroster- means my car came with OEM hard top.

 

yes the 02-05 had the defroster button beside the steering column. 00-01's didn't cause of the plastic rear window. when you have a hardtop or new top with glass put in they install the defroster switch.
