04-05 Underrated?
When purchasing my S2000 last week, the dealer told me that the 04-06's were underrated by Honda to keep them in the same class of car. I am aware of the enigine size upgrade from 2.0 to 2.2 but always thought that the only gains were in torque figures and a wider power band. Can anyone confirm this or was this guy just pulling my leg. Either way, that had no influence on me purchasing this specimen of a car, but it would be nice to know that 230 to the wheels is sitting under the hood.
It wasn't underrated to keep them in the same class of car. That dealership is a moron.
that said, yes they dyno about 10 peak whp higher than the 00-03. (however dont let that go to your head, as they are NOT any faster than the 00-03. they are both the same. there are other changes that negate the 10whp)

As much as I'd like to believe you or anyone else drives their S2000's around between 6000 and 9000 (or 8000) RPM all day long, the fact is, most people don't. At identical RPM between idle until into VTEC, the AP2 accelerates quicker. Noone is talking about why one person buys one car over another.

Yes yes, for daily driving and "around town," the AP2 is quicker than the AP1. But then again, so is a V6 Camry...
