Fwiw, I did race an AP1 and pull on him from a red light, but he had an aftermarket exhaust. I contribute the speed to my superior color choice though.

Keep in mind the '06 S2000 has 237hp, and that's SAE rated!

At identical RPM between idle until into VTEC, the AP2 accelerates quicker.
Duh. that's what downshifting is for. the ap2 is not faster than the ap1. the ap1 is not faster than the ap2. see a pattern here?

remember the driver also matters... a top notch driver will win in either car vs. a noob in an AP2

Do you realize that when you shift to 5th at redline (99mph) in an AP2, an AP1 is just getting into VTEC (6350rpm) in 4th gear??? Also, if you started at 3k in 4th gear, he would be at 2400rpm!!! I don't drive the car below 2500, much less attempt to accelerate!!! You are geared shorter, starting at a rediculously low speed, in a rediculously high gear, in a car with absolutely no low end of course you would win this race.

i really cant tell the difference between racing because ive never race a 00-03 but ive driven them couple of times. One thing that i felt on my 05 compare to like 03, is the off the line regular driving. I felt that 00-03 needs to get the rpm a little higher than my 05 to get to the same speed and the other thing that i felt on my 05 was the motor felt that its always rev up...again i go with what majority says, they are the same and no difference on power...

my take is that the cars are close enough to such that an ap1 or ap2 winning is almost all due to driver skills.

what would be sweet is if I had an ap2 w/ 9k redline. 8k comes way too soon.

You are gullible if you believe anything the dealership says.
