Default 04 with 9k redline?

Ok, I had a crazy idea go through my head that might have been addressed before. Alot of people gripe that the 04 lost the 9k redline but are glad it gained the torque and lowered powerban. My question is, with all these engineers that drive this car and mod the hell out of it, is there any way to retrofit a pre 04 dash to an 04 and change the ECU so you get a 9k redline out of an 04? I'm sure this is one mod that alot of people would like to do!

Anybody?

Anybody?

Making the MY04 run at 9K is easy....making it run long term at 9K is hard. It's not a simple turn up the RPMS and go. You'd need to upgrade the rods at least. Other issues will have to be dealt with before and yes this has been addressed many times before

So they cheapened the rods on the 04 or what? It's pretty much the same engine and components right except for the displacement right?

C'mon Honda, what's another 800k on the redline anyway??

The MY04 uses the same drivetrain as the 92-95 Civic DX and is unfortunately not strong enough for 9k rpm zips.

I'm not sure if the motor was bored out or the stroke was increased. Regardless, the motor will have increased rod load (compared to the pre '04 models) if you take it up to 9000 rpm. This will almost certainly cause premature failure on the con rods (for starters). Not a good idea.

As someone said, you can probably just up the RPM - you just can't keep the motor reliable while doing it (without serious mods).

i think the stroke was lengthened...the MY04 running at redline has a higher piston speed then the MY03 running at redline....

Nope. Not acceptable. Honda put everything there to be played with. It even says in the owners manual and I quote:

"All stated figures and tolerances are mere suggestions from Honda. The owner is in no way recommended to follow these and should feel free to experiment. Honda recommends starting with a turbo or supercharger."
